Nothing - location may be the only plus point The hotel was shocking - old, in desperate need of an upgrade, electrical plugs points were all loose and hanging out of the wall, bed was broken, no running water and unaccommidating staff
-
Every think there and big respect for the staff

The way of hundling and the change of price after reservation
-
No hot shower

Stayed there because of the gardens to do some birding. Very average hotel and needs a lot of detail to maintenance. Hardly slept as there were people talking loudly and banging doors till early morning. The staff were very helpful and took me to get a simcard and change some money. Very noisy all night.

The food was delicious Old buildings never remodeled

I love the Ghion. It’s an old style hotel in a great location with a beautiful garden setting. It is spacious. The staff were mostly very kind and helpful. The traditional resturant is great and it has a jazz club on the grounds and a great cafe within the grounds that overlooks the garden. It did not deliver what it advertised. We booked a family deluxe room which supposedly had so many facilities that were not there like cofffe making facilities, microwave (we had a baby with us and needed to heat up food). The hot water was mostly Luke warm and there was no heating. We were there in a particularly cold time of the year.

The bed is too small and there is a lot of mosquito bite in the night and their food taste is very terrible Just a location center of the city

The location is awesome in the middle of a beautiful garden. Staff was very helpful including the manager. Maintenance is poor like broken wardrobes old furniture. Food is not upto standard. I couldn’t get butter at breakfast of dinner.

Was clean, quiet, fresh tasty food (specially if you like Ethiopian food) the natural view and the friendly staff were amazing. The African Jazz Village is one of the best experience. It’s a peaceful place. My three daughters and I are enjoyed our time @ Ghion ??? The shower water turns cold a lot of the time so we needed to call and let it fix often. Other than that was a peaceful place.

Excellent old governmental hotel in the middle of everything. Simple but clean and spacious standard.

Food: Great traditional breakfast that is included. Dinner was fantastic with traditional dining room atmosphere. I am a vegetarian. The "fasting meal" was perfect...Food quality excellent every time, despite remodeling & moving of breakfast location. Pool: 50 meters, clean, well maintained and very near room. (FYI - most rooms nowhere near near the pool. Also the rooms do not look like photos nor descriptions on Booking.com! Beware! They tried to give me a small, one-bedroom instead of 3-bed family option & kitchen booked. Does not exist! I had to check put rooms and select "next-best" option.) Hotel Property: The landscape not affected by construction is very lush, well-kept & picturesque. Many exotic plants. Many exotic birds to listen to and see.(Despite constant construction!) Security Deposit: Available at reception. Airport Proximity & Shuttle to Airport: Airport 20-30 mins away & shuttle provided for free. Location: Can easily walk to many historical & cultural sites. Right across from metro, taxi stands & buses. Night Life: Thursday night African jazz night at hotel (FYI - also very near to Hyatt Regency nightly jazz bar) Security: Many security personnel around the premises especially since pool & gym are open to public. Room Maintenance: Water in toilet stopped flushing; never fixed. Had to use buckets. The water pressure in general is very low; never addressed. Housekeeping: Very unprofessional & casual approach to work. At first, always asking for money. After tipped and cleaning day / time agreed on, they disappear & never returned! Hotel could not provide toilet paper? Seriously?! No Internet in Room: Supposedly due to construction going on. Hotel Communication & Shuttle from Airport: Hotel does not respond to messages in a prompt, professional manner. Reservation allegedly includes free shuttle from airport to hotel but it was impossible to contact hotel via Booking.com or phone to arrange. Ended up paying 25 USD for a cab to hotel. Construction Noise: Very loud & often going on until very late at night. Pool: Open to public & freezing cold, even with the shorty wetsuit + additional wetsuit jacket & hood that I brought. I honestly got hypothermia. The water in room not hot enough to warm you up afterwards. I noticed that the local Ethiopians seem to deal with the cold water in normal swimwear. There are also no lane markings so to swim 50 meters in straight line, only breaststroke possible!

Location. History. Near jazz club with fabulous music and artists . Met local people. Stayed many times before Building site, noisy and dusty early in morning ! Lost my laundry . Double charged me so lots of hassle . Inefficient. . Broken balcony door , shower , lights. Ate meat for the first time in 20 years !!!!

The gardens were nice to walk around. The restaurant on the hill served good cuisine for a fair price, and the hotel was in a safe and convenient location to walk places. Where to start? Hotel didn't provide me with the room booked on booings.com, and after some arguing I managed to get a somewhat equivalent room. This room lacked running water (would work for an hour to two then shut off for 24 hours. Eventually, I was moved to a different room that was adequate for the remainder of my stay. Every room has broken appliance and the features are very tired. You get what you pay for - it is not an expensive hotel, but there is much better available for a similar price point in the city.

The location of the hotel is perfect, in the centre of the town, near to the main square. The housekeeping was at level. The people in the hotel was very polite, but not very good English. in the night cost in included breakfast and the swimming pool. The hotel furnishings were not good, old furniture. The breakfast was typical for the region, there is now variety of food, especially for people from Europe. I had ordered a shuttle from the airport, but no one was waiting us. So i found myself at 4 ap at an airport in an unknown town with a child, waiting for someone to pick us. I called the hotel but no one answered. in the end I was forced to pay for a taxi(the car was strange old car without a lasov device. The amount I paid was negotiable). I tried to talk with the manager of the hotel, to ask why nobody waiting us, but i only got a smile, no answer. The room they gave us wasn't the one i booked. The bed was broken and i had to change the rooms. In the new room the shower in the bathroom didn't work. there is reconstruction outside all the time.

It's like an oasis of lush green palm trees with a 50m swimming pool smack bang in the middle of the city with a jazz club, 4 restaurants and lots of really beautiful Ethiopian staff. It feels like stepping back in time. If you are looking for a luxurious room, then this isn't for you but I absolutely loved it. We booked a room shown on the website which I found but there had been someone living in it. Probably needs a chat with the hotel but it was such an absolute joy, I didn't care at all.
