I booked this guest house based on its good reviews, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. I would not recommend it to anyone visiting Agra. The biggest issue was the bathroom and water quality. The bathrooms were not clean, and the tap water came out with dirt and sand. It was impossible to take a proper shower or even brush my teeth using the tap water. We had to use bottled water just for basic hygiene. The location is also not as convenient as expected. It is not close to the Taj Mahal or other major attractions, so getting around takes extra time. The only positive part of our stay was the owner's father and the staff member working there. They were both very kind, polite, and helpful throughout our visit. I hope the management improves the cleanliness and fixes the water supply issues, as these are basic expectations for any guest house.

Everything! Max Guest House was honestly better than many of the 3- and 4-star hotels I stayed at during my trip to India. The owner is incredibly kind and caring. He gave us all the information we needed, was always available to answer our questions, and even arranged a taxi for us to travel to our next destination. What I loved most about this place is its simplicity. There’s nothing luxurious about the room, but everything is spotlessly clean and comfortable. Considering the price, it offers incredible value for money. It was so relaxing that we decided to extend our stay in Agra and take a break after two weeks of traveling. I’d also like to mention the breakfast. It was superb! Just three pieces of toast, scrambled eggs, butter, and jam, yet I enjoyed every single bite. ? The person who served breakfast was also incredibly kind and polite. I highly recommend Max Guest House to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay in Agra. Nothing! Just one small thing to mention: the shower doesn’t have temperature control. During the day, the water is pleasantly warm, but if you shower late at night, the water may not be as warm.

Rooms were clean and neat. Ambience was very good Max was a nice person Salt water for bathing and all needs, feels disgusting. The washroom enclosed inside the room as a partition, could have well maintained No lift I also don't see a private car parking area

Good location - walkable to tourist areas, quick tuk tuk ride to Taj Mahal. Our room was very clean. Breakfast was simple but good! An extra layer (blanket) on the bed would have been better. Also many dogs barking and howling through the night. No fault if guest house, but maybe choose room in the back

This place is definitely worth the money. I’m confident it’s the best option in the city within its category. The rooms are clean, staff are helpful and not are pushy with offering sightseeing services, and the breakfast are very good!

The hotel offers great value for the price. The breakfast was good, and the room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked quietly, which made for a pleasant stay. The Taj Mahal is just 15 minutes away. There’s also a terrace where you can relax with a drink and chat with other travelers. Max was especially helpful and even arranged an airport pickup. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.

Me and my friend arrived really late because the train from Delhi was late. So instead of 10 pm we arrived way after midnight. I was in touch with Max on whatsapp and he was very understanding, polite and still let us in when we arrived (even though we had to wake him up). Thank you for your hospitality!

We had a truly lovely stay at Max Guest House in Agra. The location is perfect—close to the Taj Mahal, which made our visit incredibly convenient and enjoyable. The hospitality was wonderful, and the atmosphere felt very welcoming. We especially loved the food—fresh, delicious, and clearly made with a lot of care. Overall, Max Guest House exceeded our expectations and was a great base for exploring Agra. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Taj Mahal. A small thing to mention: the bathroom was a bit outdated, but Max told us it will be renovated this summer. In the end it was a fair trade‑off, since staying on the upper floor meant far fewer mosquitos and a more comfortable night’s sleep.

I had a great stay at Max Guest House. The location is convenient—just a quick 5–10 minute rickshaw ride to the West Gate of the Taj Mahal. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food was genuinely good. Max himself was extremely helpful. He gave great advice on the best time to arrive at the Taj, and he was also able to arrange a clean, safe taxi for my trip to Rajasthan at a fair price. There were a few other services he could have set up as well, but I was on a tight schedule this time. Overall, a friendly, reliable, and well-run place to stay in Agra. I’d absolutely stay again. All good!
