There are times when things go wrong with travel and you need help. Usually you hope the hotel will help but they don’t do much. My recent bout of troubles happened in India, between Kochi and Dehli. As a guest of the Taj Cochin International Airport, Kerala, I was treated to first class trouble shooting led by customer relations person Khushboo Gupta, Assistant Manager Praveen Kumar Jha and the General Manager Suresh Khanna. All stepped up to help, and as a team, my problems were resolved. The Taj brand stands for outstanding service and here it was obviously true. The hotel also was great, recently built and fantastic location near the airport.

Breakfast - Not up to the mark. Location - Not bad, but near to few restaurants 1. Wi-fi was not working for whole 2 days of stay, except for 1 hour, after repeated complaints. Worst part is not taking the complaint saying it must be working, as others in 2nd floor didn't complain so far. I didn't get the wi-fi signal from other floors. As I had to call home, staff gave hotspot and once I connected the call he left in few seconds with his phone, in spite he promising to stay for some time. While checking out I had booked Uber after taking hotspot from the reception staff. 2. I couldn't charge my phone as my flat 3pin plug pin / adaptor was not suitable. After long discussions, I had to borrow a charger from a staff to charge my phone. 3. Bright Light from corridor enters the door side glass on top ( which cannot be covered) and noise from the road was unbearable during the night and took long time to sleep 4. Saw thick dust settled below the cot which was not cleaned for months(visible as cot bottom is open). 5. Amount given was way too high and understandably they want to earn more due to the high demand (due to Maha Kumbh) 6. Before 1 week of the trip, they sent a message thro booking.com to call the property urgently otherwise they will cancel the booking. When I called, they asked to pay immediately, even though booking.com says "pay while staying". I had to send money as I had no other option. I don't know if Booking.com has anything to say 7. There was a risk to whom we are transferring money in advance. I had to take that risk by paying full money for 2 days. 8. Worst part is while checking out, they said I had paid only for 1 day and had to pay for 1 more day. They made me to wait for 5-10 mts, as the reception guy was speaking with someone internally, before "releasing" me.
