Speck Bangkok

The privacy of the dorm room was good. The beds were comfortable. The place was cleaned everyday. The staff was not very friendly. They sometimes literally laid down and took naps on the benches while I was working from the table. I also really didn't like that the giant storage cubbard I had a half shelf at the bottom of it making it impossible to use the majority of the space. It was really unfortunate. I just kept my backpack on my bed with me. The breakfast was often really strange. One time it was a cold fried egg and 3 cold chicken nuggets. The next was spicy pork and rice. Toast, cereal and milk with coffee or tea were also available.

The area is very touristic, which isn't what I was after. This isn't the hostels fault. There was no hot water on one or two occasions. Aircon was very cold always.

This is the 2rd time I've stayed at Speck. I keep coming back to it since it's simply the best hostel I've found in Bangkok. If you're early with booking, the price is also extremely good for what you get. The rooms are all great, with good storage options, privacy, and easy access to everything. The bed cabins are especially great, with chargers, lights, and storage all in the right places, and some of the better beds I've had in a hostel. It's all well thought through. The bathroom areas are all extremely clean, bsaically spotless all day. Very impressive. The breakfast is comparatively on the simple side, but still totally adequate and better than most other hostels.

I have no complaint about location! The entrance and 2nd floor kitchen space are mostly pretty clean. The space of toilet is very tight, and bathroom (shower room & toilet area) are mostly very dirty. It’s not because of the hostel but people use here are not considerate, so they used it and leave mess behind. Hair is everywhere, floor is wet, and don’t clean garbages. Also, dormitory room are not really clean either. It looks clean but there were always some sort of uncomfortable smell in the air. In addition, when you sleep on the upper bed, it’s quite hot even the air conditioning is on. At last, their breakfast system is very odd. They said they’ll seatbelt breakfast if you are at 2nd floor where the kitchen is, but even if you went there during the breakfast time and even asked the worker who brings a plate, your request will either be ignored or they simply don’t get the request because of the language barrier.

There was no much of “welcomeness”. The clearing people don’t even respond to greeting which was a bit shocking…! They said they’ll change towel every three days, but they did not once at my last stay. I did not get the sense that cleaning stuff is aware of those rules or managing our stay well.

Fantastic location. Great comfort, with sensible detail and excellent service. Super value!

personally i prefer something more homely and relaxing, but it was impressively decorated and arranged.

Well furnished, stylish at an amazing district and location near to the BTS. Cubicles can get quite hot/stuffy at night.

Very clean and modern. Bed very comfortable. Decent storage space and locker. Staff is so dry. Bare minimum greetings and no instructions were given how to navigate through your stay. Didn’t explain how breakfast works or slippers provided situation. Facilities are immaculate though. Good Wi-Fi too.

Great, Big bed, bathrooms were quite handy It was very 'cold' feeling; the echo-y feel of the place, the foyer/seating area was awkward, the breakfast area was ok but it all felt like a cold, dark environment.

Its so clean, so new, so comfy especially the bed make me feel so safe. The staff knows english so can communicate smoothly. Overall its cozy, near to bts station 4 mins walk. The only cons i would say breakfast choices can be more variety.

The beds were comfortable, bathroom was good, air conditioning was great, the place was clean and location was good. The breakfast was limited.
