Shangri-La Bangkok

Has been a go-to for years, but there is plenty of competition now. Good points are: refinement (although looking a bit jaded now); walk through to Saphan Thaksin and BTS/Pier via the third floor; boat to Icon Siam; riverside setting and room views. Riverside bar well over-priced for cocktails, even at happy hour.

The location was excellent a few steps from the BTS. The room was very nice, clean and spacious. Excellent services. Breakfast needs variety and a bit more fresh.

The hotel shuttle boat to ICONSIAM stops at 5:30 PM (17:30)! Why? Other hotel boats run into the night.

Our stay at the hotel was a wonderful experience with many memorable highlights. The hotel arranged a very comfortable limousine service from Khao Yai to the property. The driver was extremely friendly and welcoming, even asking if we would like to play music during the journey and offering complimentary water. However, the WiFi in the vehicle was unfortunately not working. Our check-in process was very smooth, especially as we had prepaid for our stay. The hotel’s interior design was impressive — modern while still beautifully reflecting Thai culture. The mini bridge in the lobby was a unique and memorable feature that added to the charm of the property. The room itself was very spacious and gave us a wonderful royal feeling throughout our stay. The large balcony with its breathtaking Chao Phraya River view was one of the highlights, especially after sunset when the scenery became even more beautiful. The only drawback was the lack of a Muslim shower near the toilet area, which would have made the room more comfortable for Muslim guests. The housekeeping service was excellent, and we truly appreciated the laundry service, which was fast, well-organized, and maintained a high standard of hygiene. The room reservations team was also incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay as smooth and comfortable as possible, especially with arranging our limousine services and dinner cruise experience. One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the Shangri-La Horizon Dinner Cruise. From start to finish, the staff were kind, friendly, and attentive. The food was delicious and very filling, especially the desserts. As Muslim guests, we also appreciated the thoughtful arrangement of non-alcoholic welcome drinks, which was a lovely gesture. The cruise itself was smooth, and the views along the Chao Phraya River were spectacular.

The Shangri-La makes every effort to be regal. So there is a lot of staff to welcome and carry on your luggage at the door, the uniform is impressive, the smiles wide. Reception is personal, professional and quite swift. Our room, at the remote Krungthep wing was spacious and had a great view of the river. We were also quite lonely at this wing as it was mainly empty and whisper quite. There was nothing "personal" about our stay at the Krungtherp, no premium perks or special benefits as one may expect. Location on the river is good. Concierge services exemplary, Breakfast is exceptional and the public spaces are cozy, spacious, well decorated and inviting. The pool is nice too. Attention to details that make a good hotel great was lacking, and every day of our stay was plagued with different faults. These were attended to, some at a leisurely pace, but the hotel apologized and compensated so no further complaints here. It takes a lot of walking through long corridors to get to the main building from the Krungthep wing so consider that when going to breakfast or the pool or basically anything else. There is a shuttle though for those who prefer not to walk.

we had room 1151 in the krungthep wing , had 2 balconys, one bigger than the other roommwas way better than we thought it would be , great for watching the boats go up and down the river, we were right next to motor way but the noise didnt really bother us , and was only a 2 mim walk to train station , , heaps of different food at breakfast was very nice, 2 great pools but as i just had a tattoo i wasnt able to use them , the one in the krungthep wing only had 2 to 3 people in it at any one time , its like its your own priv pool , when we go back to bangkok this will be our go too nothing we liked every thing

This is a great place to stay right on the river. Very comfortable and close to everything Bangkok has to offer. Pro tip- great coconut smoothie & coffee truck behind the hotel. A little dated, but it’s still exceptional.

Really classy property but the people don’t necessarily cut it for me.

The hotel is very maintained and the location is very nice with great views of Chao Phraya River. The hotel offers free shuttle service to/from IconSiam. The breakfast was also nice with Halal options. Put proper signage inside the hotel to go from one building to the next one for taking metro
