SHIN Hotel Chinatown

Nothing at all. They were nice enough to have bottled water, at least. Location was the only thing that saved me from going ballistic. I would definitely not stay at this place again. It felt criminal to subject to guests to what they did. First of all, there is no front desk so you need to read a QR code and you will need a separate app to chat with someone who will ask you to upload a picture of your passport (a digital submission on a secondary app is already sketchy) BEFORE you can even get a security code to enter. If you have a lot of luggage, are injured, or of the weather is bad, good luck to you. There is no safe place to leave your luggage before check-in, just a little area between a wall and a door past the elevator. The room on the first floor with the shared bathroom was hot as hell and the one apparatus they had there was only blowing out hot air!!! We had to go up to the second room we had booked and share the floor with a friend. The bathroom was also smelly of urine and other nasty odors. I actually felt like I was being punished in a nightmare situation and I began feeling physically sick, especially since no one was there managing in person.

The location of this hotel is excellent, as it is close to China Town (markets and restaurants/bars) and also very close to the ferry terminal at Ratchawong. The room is large and the facilities are appropriate for this style of basic hotel. However, significant improvements can be achieved with some simple changes. (which are further discussed below) Additionally, the provision of a hand wash in the toilet would have been appreciated, rather than having to go into the shower to wash hands after going to the toilet. The bed is also suitable for people who like a hard matress, but this level of firmness may not suit everyone. Please be aware that at least Room 803 can be very noisy when there is rain. The water droplets/runnells fall onto a tin roof two floors down between the hotel and an adjoining building and the noise is quite loud even if the rain is relatively light. Lastly, it is important to note that there is nobody at the hotel for check-in. Therefore, check-ins are done remotely and access to the hotel and the rooms is achieved by entering codes. When first arriving at the hotel, it was necessary to open a dialogue with a remote support desk via apps such as WhatsApp. Therefore, prior to access, it was necessary to send through the booking information, and a picture of my passport. It would have been very helpful if the hotel had coordinated the collection of this type of information beforehand, and provided the access codes and instructions before we arrived at the front door. The check-in would have been much more friendly if this type of preliminary information and collection was implemented. This outcome could be readily achieved by sending the requests and information through the booking organisation (e.g. Booking.com).

The room was very clean and has big bathroom with soaking tub. The overall amenities was outstanding for the just few minutes from China town. We love the hotel it was convenient and super easy to check in and out remotely.

I loved the location of the property. Very close to Ratchawong pier. U could get one way ferry pass here. Although it gets quite pretty soon there's a Night Market on adjacent street which opens at 12am. Loved that the Market and Ferry terminal were close. They also provide clean towels everyday which I found was such a great service. 24 hour check-in was something that prompted us to come across this Gem of a Hotel. Loved their Bathroom, just like the images!
