Hotel Alimara

Front desk was friendly. Close to the metro Breakfast was very good and bar staff friendly and attentive even with our language barrier. We arrived after 2 and had to wait for our room to be ready. The air conditioning had been off and the room was uncomfortably warm. We managed to stove the issue after speaking to the front desk, The safe never worked, and no one showed up to help after speaking to front desk. The bathroom was in need of a good deep clean and repairs. Did not drain well, and it actually felt like the floor of the shower was giving away. It definitely felt like they rushed to prepare our room.

Clean, friendly staff and accessible to public transportation. The slamming sound when the door closes of the adjacent room can be heard from inside the room. Recommend to adjust the door closures or install sound dampening materials.

Rhe air conditioner couldn't heat the room. The windows didin't seal properly so cold air was coming in and you could hear cars from the nearby higgway.

The restaurant at the hotel is really good. Had lunch there and the quality of the meal, for the price - was spot on! Also their breakfast is decent- nice selection, with options for everyone. I am on crutches right now and requested an accessible room. The first room they put us in, was not accessible, and far from the elevator, so they had to move us to another room- which may not seem like much- but after a long travel day, having to switch rooms and take extra steps - was painful.

Though the hotel is a 4 stars hotel , it misses the 4 stars touch in the breakfast varieties and in the rooms.

A nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are well appointed and clean. Modern bathrooms. Breakfast is very good and offers nice options for hot food, fruits and pastries. Restaurant is good, but not a huge menu selection. Not many restaurants nearby, although a short cab ride (20 min walk) will take you to Horta where there are several options. There are a couple of cafes nearby for coffee/meals during the day. Train station is a 2 min walk and 20-25 min journey to downtown areas. There is a good supermarket nearby and a pharmacy. We felt safe walking at night in this area.

Room is very hot from afternoon sun, Heavy drapes must be used at all time. Air cond was not working initially, good thing they fixed quickly. There is no decoration in room, all white wall feels like hospital.

The bed ,black out curtains, air conditioner, and the clean bathroom and the check-in process on the 1st floor !!

Distance from the metro line and Marcet training field. Rooms are very basic but neat Overflowing shower, complicated safety deposit box, not user friendly phone that I have to go to reception whenever i need something. No pool. Gym is a big joke.

WiFi coverage in the room unstable

The location and the size of the rooms were big and spacious. The breakfast could use a little upgrades here and there, and some of the rooms could use a little maintenance for a better appearance to the eye... But the property was outstanding for the price. I would stay there again.

It has darkening curtains, comfortable pillows, a bathtub and bidet. I wish there had been a swimming pool. Also the shower was difficult to engage.
