JRW Welmond Hotel & Casino Batumi

Before I submit my review, two things happened on the last day that made me change my rating from 4 to 3. I'll list them as negatives in the last two lines. The Positives Close to the Boulevard and halal Arabic restaurants. A 15-minute drive from the airport. Quiet and not crowded. The room is spacious and clean. The toilet seat has a water tap for ablution as an alternative to a bidet. The bathroom is large and includes a jacuzzi and a separate shower. I received my room early, before the hotel's standard check-out time, and it was ready after I pre-ordered an extra bed through Booking.com. The furniture is clean. The room can accommodate four people. The sofa is spacious and very comfortable. There are two storage compartments for clothes: one by the door, one at the entrance, and one next to the bed. The sea and mountain views are beautiful. There is an indoor swimming pool. The breakfast is sufficient and suitable for most people, but it lacks variety; you eat the same breakfast every day. This doesn't bother me because even if there is variety, most of the food is not halal. The seating area is very spacious, with large, comfortable, and well-spaced tables. There are multiple spacious elevators. The TV is a 50-inch smart Android screen The view of the sea and mountains is beautiful, but the port opposite it for loading and unloading ships didn't really impress me. The bathroom in the guest room has no bidet and no nearby drain. This means anyone with a child who might have trouble using the toilet will be busy cleaning up. Many of the bathroom tiles are broken and damaged, and the edges of the carpet are dirty. I occasionally, though very rarely, saw a small insect resembling a weevil that appears in damp wheat flour. This is due to the humidity. The reception staff don't help with carrying luggage, even if they see you struggling to unload it. If you have a lot of luggage, they don't offer any assistance. This didn't bother me, though. Thankfully, all my suitcases have wheels, and I pushed them calmly with my children and took them to the room without asking them. There's no welcome or reception that leaves a good impression; they don't seem to care about this aspect. The smell of cigarettes is moderate in the lobby and hallways, mixed with the hotel's perfume. It's bothersome to most people, but not overpowering. I smelled it a bit in my room because of the door opening and closing, and the smell is noticeable when the air conditioning is turned off. The room's soundproofing is very poor. You can hear the people above and next to you through the air conditioning vents. It's slightly less noticeable if your air conditioner is running all the time. The sounds of trucks, modified cars, and port activity are audible and very disturbing for light sleepers. The Wi-Fi speed is slow. The pool is a full 1.5 meters deep, unsupervised, and there are no towels. Room cleaning is only available upon request. Ironing is available upon request, but to be fair, it arrives very quickly. Toilet paper comes in three rolls; you have to ask for more when you run out. This is just an observation, neither positive nor negative.

The biggest problem with the hotel is the bad smell from the old carpets and the strong smell of cigarettes in the lobby.

Our stay at the hotel was excellent. Everything was very clean and well maintained, the room was spacious, and the breakfast was varied and delicious. The staff were extremely kind, friendly, and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The size of the room and the view from all of the expansive wall of windows in the executive suite, on the 12th floor, will be difficult to beat in all of the choices of hotels in Batumi. The room decor needs updating to meet executive suite demands as it is quite a bit dated. Minor repairs were needed to address a sink that would not properly drain the flow of water and a window that would not latch closed, which allowed the wind to blow it open. The most disappointing fact was the hotel is listed as a non-smoking hotel, there was an overpowering smell of cigarettes throughout the hotel hallways, elevators and other common areas. Luckily the room itself did not smell like cigarettes! However, the casino is located on the main ground level and the casino and the rest of the hotel must share (or at one time shared) a common HVAC unit, as the smell of the hallways to the elevators always smelled like an old dirty ashtray. Breakfast was good, tons of variety. Valet parking onsite is included, which is a nice bonua. There is a sauna, spa and swimming pool facilities, none of which we used due to the smell of cigarettes everywhere.

Very clean, gave us early check in. Big bathroom, with hot water all day. Gym was worth with all you need for workout. Nice pool, great breakfast. Location is good, near supermarket, shops, and bazar. Also 15 min walk to the sea. Nothing

Every thing about the new place is good but there was one guy work in desk was not goos to me and he lies abot that i give him money to spend one night more and then they force me to leave the room and he said that I didn’t give him money and all my friends was with me and saw every thing it was unbelievable and uncomfortable feeling in my tour and i will not think to go back there again because of this situation

The hotel exceeded my expectations! We had a beautiful clean room with the view on the sea. I was looking for the hotel which included breakfasts and spa - and I wasn't wrong choosing Welmond! Their spa includes a swimming pool, hammam and gym. It is open throughout the day and has a great capacity. I truly enjoyed it. The breakfasts suggest multiple options from savoury to sweet for all tastes. I loved the location as the main attractions are within the walkable distance.

Great location, can walk to any attraction spots. I requested to change the room from city view to sea view. The staff upgraded me without any additional charge. (Even though the sea view was partially blocked by a mobile crane but view is great. ha...ha..) Although it was a non-smoking room, when I entered the room I could smell cigarette smoke.
