Hotel location at night was not very clear and felt a bit scary. Also, the lobby was quite small

Comfy, clean, and spacious room with a gigantic bathroom that includes a tub. Wonderful 'above and beyond' service by the staff. Location in one the best parts of Beijing - in a traditional hutong area but close to metro and other sites. I would happily recommend this hotel and can't wait to stay there again.

Great location, very friendly staff, yummy breakfasts and wonderful tea collection you can try at breakfasts. I enjoyed the stay and would definitely return again!

The staff were amazing; so friendly and helpful in every way! We did not have one complaint!

We booked 2 rooms here for 10 nights and it's one of the best places we've ever stayed! The staff (especially Mr. Thunder!!) are exceptionally kind and eager to ensure that you're having the best possible experience. Both rooms were comfortable, large, and thoughtfully furnished with high quality items - especially the beds, which were a treat to come back to each day. The tatami room's bed even came with a built-in massager which is one of the best things we've come across in a hotel, so much so that we're looking into getting our own for back home :) We also enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows, and spent many lazy mornings lying in bed watching the local hutong cats play on the rooftops. We had also made our bookings before The Purple Horse changed its booking offerings to provide all-inclusive meals, but despite that (and without us asking!), the staff at The Purple Horse insisted that our booking be upgraded to include this as well. Mr.Thunder, who is the head chef at the hotel, is an absolute talent and his food is delicious. We had intended to go out for breakfast more often, but ended up eating at the hotel most days because we were looking forward to seeing what he had prepared that day. We're aware that other reviews have previously noted how 'boring' the breakfast can get, but we didn't encounter that at all. Also, the breakfast/meals area is wonderful, with a huge selection of Chinese tea that we had a lot of fun sampling (with Mr. Thunder's enthusiastic guidance). Location-wise, the hotel is well connected and a short, 10-15min walk to the subway. Didis are also very easy to hail, and all of the ones we requested were happy to pick us up from the front of the hotel. The hutong lane going into the hotel can be a bit tight but it's only a very short walk to a main road. This is more an FYI to travelers as it's standard across China and not a reflection of The Purple Horse itself. Depending on the time of year you visit, the centralised air-conditioning might not be turned on. We're used to cooler internal environments so we left the window open most of the time.

The best experience I ever had The chef was so kind to me. I have a lot of food restrictions — and the chef offered me delicious dishes. The room is with the wood It’s so nice. If I’d be in Beijing again I definitely will stay here Please buy yoga mat

The hotel is beautifully remodeled in a modern ‘Japandi’ style. The Kindlg room was spacious with lots of shelves and closet space, and the common areas of the hotel were very nice. Staff was nice and hel0ful. We didn’t find the bed very comfortable but that’s a matter of personal preference. It was a thin futon on top of a very VERY springy base. Breakfast was also a bit on the lower end and the western options were quite strange - like pizza with half a banana on top. I’d prefer they just focus on Chinese options and increase the quality rather than offer western junk food. We also stayed for 6 nights in a 2nd floor room and the noise from the street was quite loud. For that long of a stay, it would have been nice to have a higher, quieter floor.

We had a fantastic experience at the Purple Horse Hotel in Beijing. The hotel is very new, beautifully designed, and feels luxurious from the moment you enter. Our room was spacious, spotless, and equipped with modern features such as automatic curtains and other smart technology—very comfortable and impressive. Another convenience we really appreciated was the self-laundry room being located on the same floor as our room, making it incredibly easy to wash and dry clothes during our stay. The staff were excellent: polite, friendly, and professional, offering 5-star standard service throughout our visit. We also enjoyed the restaurant on the first floor—the food was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The location is another highlight. It’s near the center of the city, making it convenient to reach major sightseeing spots, shopping areas, and all kinds of stores. Although the hotel is located inside a hutong, which means some taxi or Didi drivers may be reluctant to drive in, you simply need to ask them to enter. The hotel is only a short 2–3 minute walk from the main street, so access is easy and stress-free. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly choose the Purple Horse Hotel again next time we visit Beijing. Highly recommended! Nothing really. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but the comfort, luxury, and convenience of the location make it well worth it.

We had a lovely stay at the purple horse hotel! The staff were friendly, helped us with airport pick up and rooms were nice, new and spacious. Would definitely recommend.

Everything about this hotel experience from the pickup at the airport, the front desk staff, the breakfast, views from the rooftop, letting me check in early, helping me get my tour set up to see historic sites, the big comfy bed and the gorgeous shower with black marble and waterfall shower were absolutely fantastic. The restaurant in the hotel was also really good and had wonderful Peking Duck. Location was also really good with lots of sites and museum at walking distance and a short easy walk to the subway/ metro station. Everything was wonderful.

Its a new hotel with modern controls in room . The key is the people at the front desk . Sorry , I dont remember the name . The lady at the front desk during night took special care on my request in spite of the language issue . Room was worth for the money . Location is bit away from things expect in a tourist visit , you need to walk for 10-15 mins for shops and take a 15 mins cab for tourist spots. They don't have room service , gym and the break fast menu was limited . But its fine , if you can ignore these things. Great rooms and people .

The location and facilities Staff kindness and patience Language barrier Untrained Staff (housekeeping) No staff for the bar and having to wait to call the bartender from 7th floor to ground floor for an espresso Laundry was not collected two days in a row and had to claim for collection at the reception.

Clean and comfortable It’s a large property 55 square meter

Great stay in Beijing. Located in a Hutong with quiet streets, but not far from areas full of nice restaurants and bars. The staff was very helpful in arranging bookings at nearby restaurants for us, and they spoke good English! The room was very large and comfortable, with a bathtub, good AC, and a very comfortable bed. The hotel also has a very nice breakfast, and a small pool upstairs which is good to hang out and look at the skyline after visiting the city. Nothing to add

Food, and a gym maybe for a 2 star hotel
