The staff were simply sensational at all times. it was more like staying with family than at a hotel. The in-house breakfasts were enormous. A previous reviewer said that they didn't do vegetarian, but this is simply untrue. We told the reception staff when we checked in, and received a different, amazing and bountiful vegetarian breakfast every morning of our 3-day stay. The in-house onsen was a real bonus.

The only downside was that the outdoor hot spring for women was way too hot — it felt like the temperature wasn’t properly controlled, to the point where it could cause burns. Even the local Japanese guests didn’t dare to go in.

Sizeable for 2 person Rooms are dated. Mattress slump and the sound proof between room isn't good.

Reception staffs are very friendly Very out-dated hotel, mattress was sagging, lighting system is not connected, so you need to look for switches everywhere in the room in order to turn on different light. Shower head is terrible, impossible to use. The public bath on 10th and 11th floor are extremely small.

Great onsen on roof! Special made breakfast set. Very kind staff. Nice retro feeling in this family hotel. Windows can open for cool air!! Great warm duvet. Few minutes walk from Beppu rail station. Would be nice to offer vegetarian breakfast.

Great location. Just a short walk to the supermarket and food. I'm not sure why there is no aircon. Had to leave the window open. It's a bit noisy as it is along the main road.

Nothing much. The staff was nice. Everything!! The room was noisy from an internal motor or machine, old fashioned, run down, felt unclean, toilet loud, nasty smell in the corridor and room, main road noise too. Bad experience had to cancel the second night!! Couldn’t stay there!! Felt like a bad hostel from the seventies!

Excellent location near downtown Beppu, views of the water from our room. Spacious quadruple room for our family. Supermarkets all within walking distance. Open air onsen on the rooftop was a novelty. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms are a bit outdated but clean and warm.

Location was excellent for shopping and tourist attractions. Very convenient for us as we took the highway bus stops were a very short walk away. The little touches in the room and other areas of the hotel show the care and attention put in to make guests feel so welcome. The indoor onsen was great too; didn’t try out the outdoor one as it was too cold. Everything great!

Good for a short stay

Quadruple Room is a super spacious room with a row of 4 comfortable queen-size beds, one big sofa area with TV, separated bathroom/toilet and two basins. There are many powerpoint available within the room. One of the most comfortable room during our trip. We travelled by car. There are parking lots behind the hotel. The location is great as it is walking distance from Beppu Tower, You Me Town Beppu (shops started to close around 8.15pm local time), Lawson, 7-eleven and Tokiwa Beppu (closed at 7pm though). We even had late night shopping at Don Quijote (not very big though). The best thing is that their public onsen opens in the afternoon till next day morning. This will allow travellers, who return to hotel at night, to enjoy the onsen after a tiring day. The L10 onsen is bigger and with hair products available at the changing room. The name of the hotel (on the building) may not be as visible at night. There is no mention of Hotel Aile at the main entrance.
