Very cute hotel, a bit small rooms but cute and functional.

Excellent location in the centre of San Sebastián, friendly staff with whom we talked about so many topics It would be good to have a hot water kettle and instant coffee sets

Good location not far from beach. Dog friendly. Good breakfast. Nice room. All okay.

The room was nice and the beds were comfy. You can't close the curtains to sleep because then you can't get the air from outside. The staff was very nice and they allowed us to leave our suitcases for a few hours. They did bring me an iron. We were able to walk everywhere. There are cafe's and restaurants nearby. We walked to the beach and down to the Virgin statue. We walked to a nice park, too. The toilet is in a different, very small room, from the shower. The bedroom is small and stuffy.

Very well stocked. Eggs were mushy. Coffee good. My biggest complaint is the beds were hard and uncomfortable. Also, pillows too big and the blankets too heavy (we had to keep AC on low temp). Prefer choice of thinner pillows and lighter blankets.

Unfortunately the problem was solved only when another shift came as the 1st shift was not willing to help us.. 2nd room great 1st very bad.. hope they all like the 2nd guy that helped us..

The location, close to bus stop and short walk to the beach and shops, with a cute bakery around the corner. Lobby and breakfast area very well decorated. Had a very poor experience unfortunately. Filled in a comprehensive pre-stay questionnaire days before my stay, asking for quieter higher floors and two adaptors, while it was received with thanks by the property online, it was never acknowledged in person, what a complete waste of time. Was then given a first floor room right next to the elevator. Staff members, perhaps due to my lack of French, never explain or recommend anything during my entire stay. The small room itself sadly has nothing to do with the nice decor in the lobby, the walls are peeled off and old, and the light bulb flickered. WC has a non-working ventilator, no windows and smell of sewage. There is no natural light in the room. If you open the shower room door you cannot walk through to the WC/Bed. There is a bottle of showering gel but no shampoo. Tiny paper cups provided simply not suitable for making tea. A soft square cushion as a pillow. No USB outlets nor sockets near bed. And not thoroughly cleaned. The most horrible is you can hear everything going on in the corridors, and at night the boiler is so loud if someone uses the tap/shower next door, the sound of the engine wakes you abruptly. We heard people trying to get in the room and it was simply impossible to stay asleep. While the check-out time was noon, before 10:30am we had housekeeping knocking nonstop asking us when we would leave. We mentioned around 11:30am and they were very unhappy about it, which I thought was unacceptable. Breakfast was very simple with three hot dishes and almost no fruit/bakery options. Tried to hard boil some eggs for 15 minutes (the printed guide said 13) and it was still uncooked. Had to drop by the bakery next door. Considering we paid €140 for one miserable night during a weekday (not a public holiday), I would say there are definitely much better options in town and I truly regret choosing this hotel.

Location is great, so close to the Grande Plage. Really good breakfast. Lovely, friendly staff.
-
Cool rooms, nice common areas, super comfy beds, sweet location, lovely staff - so accommodating with early check in for a large group Small bit of dust in the bathrooms and other guests brought a weed smell to one of the hallways (not the hotel’s fault)

Recomendable

We had a really lovely stay at Hôtel AKENA Biarritz. We came here for surf and had great surf days in various beaches around Biarritz. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel welcome, friendly, helpful and genuine throughout our visit. They helped us store our longboards, offered coffee when we left at 4am and we met Lilli the designer of the hotel which added a big dimention to our vacation and loved speaking to her. We got many tips regarding our visit. The location is a real plus: just a short walk to the beach and within easy reach of Biarritz’s restaurants and shops. Our room was clean, comfortable and with the essential amenities. The breakfast at Hôtel AKENA deserves a special mention. We enjoyed a good selection of fresh pastries, fruit and drinks, and the service in the dining area was warm and attentive. All in all, we would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Biarritz. The toilet could use ventilation. But maybe that's just an us problem ;)

Do NOT open the windows because you will get eaten alive by mosquitoes (our own fault, not the hotel's).

Great location near Grand Plage, bakeries, grocery store and laundromat. Drink voucher available if you stayed 2 nights and didn’t have your towels changed. Parking on site but pricey. Breakfast room staff needed to do a better job keeping up with clearing tables and ensuring the small supply of scrambled eggs and fruit cocktail was replenished. One of the receptionists was more concerned with finishing her cigarette outside even though she saw us standing at the front desk.

Cool surf decor and vibe, helpful Staff and cushy plush towels! Happy to have air conditioning after hot days at the Grand Plage! A bit spendy for a fairly small room, like all accommodation in Biarritz!

The property was central. The value for money was off. Due to the holiday season we paid close to 200Eur for a 80-90Eur stay. Only paper cups available to drink from….also no parking with little useful guidance from staff. We ended up finding a space 30 minutes walk away.

Friendly staff, very welcoming. Great location to walk around in town and to the beach. shower floor very slippery, could have better pressure and toiletteries.
