Hotel Van Cleef

Beautiful, excellent hospitality and all around gem of a hotel

This such a unique hotel. Only 17 rooms and we got to know all the staff. Amazing decor throughout, lovely large room with exceptional amenities. Right on the canal. Breakfast was bountiful and tasty. We couldn’t stay longer.

Frederich was amazing, so kind, and the staff were remarkable. It was the perfect mix between a luxury hotel and a bed and breakfast. We loved our location and the ability to be on the canal but away from the central squares. We will always stay here when we go back.

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel did not fully meet my expectations. We specifically selected a suite with a view, but the suite we received did not have the expected view and mainly overlooked the roof. The suite was also arranged over two levels with a very steep staircase, making it unsafe and unsuitable for a family with children, especially at night. The layout and staircase should have been clearly disclosed before confirming the booking, or a safer alternative should have been offered. The reception staff were kind, welcoming, and helpful, and I appreciated their good service. However, one member of the housekeeping staff made us feel unwelcome, and her manner toward us was noticeably different and uncomfortable. We loved our stay at Hotel Van Cleef. The entry and living rooms were beautifully appointed and the bedrooms as well. Everything was taken care of and the staff was very welcoming and helpful! We will always come here when visiting Brugge. Also, the location is prime. It’s close to the center, but not too close. It’s down a quieter street that taxis can get to easily if needed. Nothing. It was perfect

Unlike other European hotels here luxury truly means luxury. And honestly the staff didn’t make any faces for extra water & extra towels or asking for things that hotels are supposed to provide you. And yes the moment we entered the staff said we will bring the luggage to your room & that was really a breather when most other 4* hotels in Europe would literally tell you to carry your own luggage .
