Godwin Candolim, Goa

Foyer as you enter was lovely, bedrooms were a good size, staff were friendly Bathrooms were dirty and old, towels were not clean (had marks on them), swimming pool often had bugs or bits in there but they did clean it,

The staff are very polite and courteous The most dirty unhygienic hotel I have ever seen,no hot water for 2 days changed room eventually,this is not a 4 star hotel poor value for the price compared to other hotels. Asked to check out to a day early and also some form of compensation for no hot water not willing to do anything for us , very poor customer service from the manager. Very tired and outdated.the bathroom tiles have virtually worn away wore slippers all the time the floors were so dirty. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Avoid, Avoid.

Overpriced The reception area was very nice and welcoming. I paid by Halifax clarity card and lawfully they have to ask me if I want to pay in local currency or sterling which they didn’t. I was given a receipt saying I had agreed to pay a 5% additional fee and accept their currency charges. I argued about this for most of the 10 days I stayed there. The female manager was aggressive and told me it would get sorted out, but it never was, and spoilt our stay. Do not pay by credit card here. Many did and had to pay these extra charges, Complete rip-off. The bedroom was very nice. Cleaners were excellent and toiletries were of a good standard. The bed was very comfy. The room was at the front of the hotel so you could witness the chaos that was Candolim and the frequent accidents on a very busy road. We enjoyed this though others may want a quieter balcony. Wifi was very good and I could watch TV from home through my computer on the large TV with scarts. The breakfast was fantastic if you like curry-associated dishes. For me, it was egg and toast. Lots of lovely chocolate cakes and on one occasion an amazing chocolate milkshake made breakfast pretty unusual. The garden featuring a big pool was filled with an abundance of lovely flowers and trees and was a sea of tranquillity when compared to the front of the hotel. Until the locals took over the pool, which they did for an hour most days. At best 20 odd people jumped into the pool with their clothes on, at worst they brought loud music speakers and drinks holding unofficial parties. After they left, there was a return to peace and harmony. The pool was great, though it suffered from tree debris in the pool. There was no wifi at the pool. Only one bed wasn't broken, and the pool boy often recycled towels that had been used by other guests. Don't accept a towel if it's damp. Overall, this was a mixed experience that I probably won't repeat. See above

Good location, staff tried, Very tired, dusty, things didn’t function properly( hot water, lifts)

The bed was comfortable, although I got severe skin rash from the bedsheets. The location was good and fairly central to shops, nice restaurants and beach. Staff was very attentive and helpful, changed broken fridge and security box which were both broken and also offered taxi service even to far locations. Our room was not very clean and very worn out for a 4 star hotel. Communal areas were nice enough however our room was poor, specifically the bathroom, which needed full renovation. Bath had a large open crack which we were worried to step too close to. No hot water for length of our stay. Lift was broken 3 out of our 4 nights. Breakfast had very few options so we visited several decent cafes in the area.

The Godwin a 10 minutes walk to the beach in either direction. While the road is VERY busy the Godwin is very quiet and consequently we slept really well. The bed was huge and comfortable and the sheets were very white. The room (308) was really spacious and we had a fan and a/c and ample hanging and storage space however the window was very small so the room was dark and we had the lights on whenever we were in and the balcony is tiny and too small for even a chair. The bathroom needs a make over, grouting was grey and tired and could do with replacing but it was serviceable and there’s a hairdryer and lashings of hot water; the shower consisted of a large walk in cubicle. Room servicing was good but a bit hit and miss consequently at times we had to ask for shower gel, loo rolls or towels but in fairness they were brought straight up. WiFi is a bit odd, we were given one code and passcode for each 2 items and this expired after a few days so we had to go through the process again, also as we had a phone iPad and kindle 2 codes each were needed. There’s a fridge which was nice and clean inside and lots of water was provided; there’s also a safety deposit box. Breakfast was good, there are always eggs either pre boiled/scrambled or made to order with a variety of Indian dishes, toast jams, cakes etc. we didn’t use the pool at all as the water was green the day we arrived so we thought we’d give it a Miss however the garden is very pretty. The staff were really lovely and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble and they are a credit to Godwin. Bathroom could do with a make over

Exceptional

The beds and pillows were so comfortable. The building is very tired, outside is great but the rooms need completely renovating, no access to balcony, toilet leaking, grout on tiles needs redoing. Having said that the hotel has huge potential, fabulous location and brilliant staff. We would stay again if the rooms were in better order. Big plus the beds were so comfy, in 20 years best beds so far we've slept on.

The location is good. The breakfast is Not good and It is old properties.

This was not a 4 star hotel, mould everywhere including pillows, WiFi was barely usable, extremely old and extreme lack of maintenance: walls pealing, lights not working, every bit of furniture damaged and not repaired, everything had a sticky feel,

Location, reasonably clean, reception staff tried their best Paid Rs 11,000 per night which was bonkers ... we stayed in places for a quarter of that price yet were so much better. Had cold showers for the 4 days we stayed, I wasn't even able to get a milk coffee for breakfast nor cold milk with cereal. Thankfully multiple restaurants nearby where we could get breakfast instead

Overall ambience was welcoming from the doormen to the GM. We were not informed in advance that the Swimming pool was under maintenance.
