The Dunan Hotel sits in the north-west of the Isle of Lewis. One of the 100 mile necklace of Islands in the Western Isles of Scotland. These islands are unique in the world and are made up of 124 miles of moorlands, mountains, machair, sweeping sandy beaches and the rolling Atlantic ocean. All on Europe’s oldest rock, Lewisian Gniess. In the north-west of the Isle of Lewis and around 10 minutes’ drive from the Callanish Stone Circle. Just over 20 miles from the nearest town of Stornoway. The Dunan Hotel enjoys a central and tranquil location to explore the Outer Hebrides by car, foot, cycle or public transport. 30 miles to the Butt of Lewis and 40 miles to Harris. Where you have to cross the majestic rugged hills, where eagles soar, before descending towards the shores of magnificent white shell sand beaches. The island’s main town, Stornoway, offers ferry crossings to Ullapool and the airport receives flights from a number of Scottish cities. The town’s An Lanntair arts center offers cinema and live events. You can also drive to the Isle of Great Bernera, to the west of the hotel, in around 25 minutes. The hotel features Free-Parking and Wifi and is Dog-Friendly, It also has an onsite restaurant which serves a homecooked, locally sourced product, including the Hotel's own Highland Cattle and fruit, vegetables and herbs which is grown in our own Polytunnel. The hotel also purchase product from members of the local community such as free range eggs (where ever possible). The restaurant serves a Full Scottish Breakfast including traditional Scottish oat porridge. and Lunches and Dinners which include local seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes and caters to food allergies and intolerances. Coffee, snacks and homemade cakes are available throughout the day, and picnic lunches and a range of takeaway food can also be provided by arrangement, where ever possible. The hotel has a public bar with a pool table and a relaxing lounge bar. The bar serves a number of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages including Harris Gin, bottles of Ale's from local islands and a full wine selection. We also have an extensive Whiskey selection available, which include a selection of Scottish 10,12,14 and 15 year malts. Each room at Dunan Hotel has tea and coffee facilities, a wardrobe and a flat-screen TV. There is an private bathroom with a bath and/or shower, hairdryer and toiletries in each room. The hotel caters for larger groups, can link you up with local services and help you plan your travel if required. The Dunan Hotel sits of on the Hebridean Way bike route. The hotel welcomes cyclist and walkers and offers secure overnight Bicycle Parking for guests of the hotel.

Owner and staff were all wonderful. The food was delicious! I have allergies and they were just wonderful working to provide safe and delicious meals for both dinner and breakfast All good!

Great location, very friendly owners who took wonderful care of us. Delicious meals in the restaurant. Close to Standing Stones at Calanais and many other beautiful places. New owners are renovating but thus did not affect our stay.

Location was great...only 10 min. from Callanish, so easy to get to before breakfast and other tourists. Easy walk to the Broch and easy drive to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse. Excellent breakfast and they even packed sandwiches for us for an early morning start the day we left. Can't think of anything.

This hotel is located in what feels like the middle of nowhere, but that really is true is most of the Isle of Lewis and that's exactly why we went there. This hotel had everything we needed. It was definitely a little dated but I can see why they wouldn't have a reason to invest in modernization out there. It's a very rustic part of Scotland and this hotel was a perfect place to stay to explore the isle. It was warm and cozy and had a delicious breakfast. It was a little dated, but not a big deal. Perfectly comfortable.

An excellent hotel for a stay on Louis. The attention to detail cannot be matched. The staff is warm, friendly, and always helpful with suggestions and information. The food was delicious and the customer service top drawer. A bargain for cost of accommodation and food. N/A

The staff was amazing. They are super helpful and friendly. They helped us find placed to eat during the day and activities to do as well. The hotel was in great condition. We loved our stay. The food in the restaurant was top notch. Very tasty!!!

Comfie room and bed. Delightful and helpful staff who went out of their way to help. A bit dated. Carpet not well-bacuumed in room ( staff shortage)

Breakfast was wonderful. Full Scottish if you want. Dinner was delicious. Staff was delightful and very helpful. It was in a great location for us since we were there to see the Callanish Stones. Very old folding rock across the street which was cool. Somehow I booked two rooms and had completely forgotten I had done it. Sadly we stayed in the twin room which was small and had only a bathtub with handheld shower head. Should have gone with the double which was the one with the view.

Like almost all hotels on the Western Isles, the very good standard here is somewhat equivalent to a good motel accommodations in the US. the difference is the charm on the hotel and the warmth of the proprietor and staff. The experience compensates for any small inconveniences. Dinner and breakfast were very nice, and the location on a bay on the far west of the Isle of Lewis was wonderful. The beds were quite on the soft side.

Friendly staff, the room had a door direct to outside (good for the dog), bed was comfortable and the food was good. The hotel is isolated, which we enjoyed. There is a good walk to go with the dog from the hotel. It was a great location to explore the island. The room was dated, the carpet has seen better days.

The staff was very nice and friendly. Clean hotel, with lovely views and pet friendly. I did ask in advance for use of a fridge to store insulin. The hotel did give me a miniature fridge and put it in my room. Unfortunately, it didn't work, We did pay for bed and breakfast, but as we had to leave early to catch the ferry home after a funeral, we would not be able to have breakfast. The Hotel was aware of our situation, It would of been great to have had the opportunity of even getting some fruit in the morning, or juice, or even a small discount, because of the circumstances. As the Hotel is miles from town, there was no way to get breakfast anywhere else. The fridge didn't work in my room, to store insulin, and there is no one in reception or anyone in the Hotel, to contact for help. The emergency contact number did not work.

Property was very accessible from the main road. Staff were wonderful and accommodating. They had several suggestions for some local places to check out. Dinner and breakfast were phenomenal. Rooms were clean and showers were hot. Very close to Callanish Stones and local beaches. Would absolutely stay here again.

An utterly lovely, comfortable place to stay... The staff are so friendly and helpful making the stay very special. The food was beautifully prepared, presented (especially the seafood platter!) and served. My stay was an absolute pleasure and I'm already looking forward to staying there again during my next visit.
