Palazzo Sangiorgio

I honestly don't understand how this hotel qualifies as a 5-star property. The room we were given was directly above major road construction. Every morning at around 7:30 a.m., excavators started breaking concrete and loading debris into trucks, creating extremely loud noise that made it impossible to sleep or relax. A hotel of this category should either ensure that guests are not placed in rooms affected by such disruptive work or, at the very least, inform them in advance and offer an alternative. Neither happened. A 5-star experience is about comfort, rest, and attention to guests. Unfortunately, this stay offered the exact opposite. I would not choose this hotel again and cannot recommend it to anyone expecting the standards normally associated with a five-star hotel.

Nothing!!Awful experience here after 17 days of wonderful hotels in Italy/Sicily. The place smells like a bad perfume factory-the private rooms and the public rooms. No charm to this place. The worst thing is we moved the bed to get some fresh air to get away from the overwhelming fragrance of the room, and there was fresh blood under the bed. This indicates bedbugs. They were unsympathetic and do not believe us and would not refund our money when we left after we found this after 90 min after arrival in the afternoon. We took pictures of the blood on the floor and showed it to them and they acted like it was nothing.

Beautiful boutique hotel. We stayed in a suite room which was very large with a sofa room and bedroom. Beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful. The room was extremely clean (thank you to the cleaning staff). I would mention that the shower was marble and could be slippery. There were no safety bars. There was a seat which was helpful. All the staff was very nice and helpful. Within walking distance of all the main sites of Catania city. They have an upstairs roof bar and downstairs lobby bar. Only one bartender running between the two.

Absolutely loved this hotel and the services. Staff was excellent!

Hotel lobby staff spoke English very well. They were very helpful and attentive both before and during our stay. They helped us secure a private guide and a transfer to the airport. We had a Superior Plus room which exceeded our expectations and made our whole visit to Catania a very pleasant experience. The room included a very comfortable love seat. Our balcony was small but usable and had a street view into a quiet public square. The room included a welcome gift, candy and cookies. We appreciated the 3 different pillows per person to chose from (flat to fluffy to firm), and washcloths (in Europe, gasp!). The bathroom cosmetics and toiletries were wonderful and the rain shower was so luxurious. The room was very soundproof against hotel noises and street noises. The bed was comfortable. We slept very well here and felt relaxed and safe here. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of offerings both buffet style and cooked to order. I was pleasantly surprised at the addition of traditional Sicilian “bites” both savory and sweet! We did hope to use the rooftop jacuzzi but it was closed for the season. Through a special deal, the hotel gave us 60 minutes in the Magma Harmony Spa which was wonderful. Highly recommend this experience. This hotel is immaculate inside and outside. The location is just a few minutes from St Agata’s Cathedral and the Duomo square with a pedestrian area, shopping, restaurants and points of interest. The only criticism we have is very minor--the lighting in the bathroom was poor and the mirror small which made it hard to see while shaving or putting on make-up (room 207).

The room was a little small for two people plus luggage but manageable.

We booked a Suite with City View room, which exceeded our expectations. The room was very big with a separate sitting area. Each area had it's tv. The beds were super comfortable, the rooms very clean and a huge shower. The breakfast had everything you might want. It was centrally located and the staff was very accommodating, helping us answer any questions we might have. I would have to say that there was nothing I didn't like. The price was a bit high but compare to other hotels I stayed throughout Sicily, this seemed to be the range.
