Hotel Saint Jean

Perfect location for us, and the room was large, light, and comfortable. Breakfast was fine. I had stayed here two years ago and liked it very much, I still do.

The location is excellent, and the place is absolutely charming with old-school authenticity. The man at the desk when we arrived angrily dismissed ANYTHING said in English! He was a hostile control freak. In contrast, the woman at breakfast was charming and friendly. The internet was really really slow. Also, the shower controls were really hard to figure out!

Perfect location, old style and authentic

I love this hotel, very authentic, very French. The people who run it are delightful, the beds are great, the breakfast is good. I can recommend a stay here for all people who find big hotel chains too anonymous and bland. Here you get a little more local colour. Chalon is a great base for visiting Burgundy.

Charmant, comfortabel, klassiek hotel

Very traditional regional French hotel with a traditional French welcome on arrival. The hotel is in a good location in Chalon-sur-Saône and is easy enough to find. The hotel has it's own car park and there is plenty of street parking close by. There are very few of these traditional hotels left, so it is well worth a visit for the experience. The room was large and airy and the breakfast was excellent. We noticed a couple of families had brought their dogs with them so presumably the hotel is dog-friendly.

Great location. Easy walk from the train station. The hotel is located next to the waterfront and is a nice walk to the island where a number of restaurants are located. Our room was spacious and very clean. It is an older hotel without an elevator, but that was not a problem for us. Breakfast was very nice with a layout of rolls, meats, cheeses and drinks. We would definitely stay at Hotel St Jean on any future visit.

The position Scruffy room,bathroom a work in progress,pipes sticking out of floor,large hole behind toilet,shower not attached to wall so impossible to have a shower,faulty plug in sink,carpet in bedroom stained and makes it difficult to open the door into and out of the room,a bar advertised in the description,no bar.It also mentions parking available,I was told when I asked,parking in the city.totally unhelpful man on reception.The only other person we saw was the lady at breakfast,very nice and helpful.

Comfortable spacious room well situated in the centre of the old town. Very helpful friendly reception. Very little soundproofing adjacent rooms. Could clearly hear other guests talking, also someone going to the toilet and flushing toilet in adjacent bathroom/ room.
