The hotel was very clean and looked beautiful. Our room was not ready at check in time and we had to wait about 45 minutes past check-in time. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed, but the refrigerator was situated in such a way that it was hard to open against a wall. And the TV was old-school cable and hard to find a guide and channel. But well worth the stay overall. They had free lemon water, which was a nice touch on a hot, humid day.

We didn't eat breakfast there I didn't like that there was about a 16 inch rip in the pull down shade in the window or masking tape on the wall or the fact that they had a 3 dollar toilet paper holder that was rusty also the dish network constantly went in and out with very few channels available. Our room was above the pool area and we could smell the chlorine when the air conditioner ran. The pool area needs alot of work. The ceiling tiles in bad shape and overall appearance it looked dirty. While we were sitting there a guy came in with 2 clean pool towels that he set on the cart then was going to get dirty towels from the basket but dropped them back in and slammed the lid back on and left. There are many places that needed a paint touch up. I was excited about getting to stay there because who doesn't want to stay at a hilton hotel but very disappointed with the overall appearance, even the pillowcases had frayed edges and the cover on the bed had thread snags all over it giving a wore out appearance.

This is a ONE STAR hotel, it is absolute TRASH. Do NOT let the overall score fool you. Look at the RECENT scores. In fact I would give this place negative stars if I could, and I generally never say that. We arrived and it was immediately noticeable that the service was less than desirable. The guy at the front desk (this was 8/16/2026) was confusing, and rude. From the lobby desk, he said that we needed to "take the elevator down to your room". The key just had "7" written on it. We had no idea what he meant, he did not explain that the hotel is built into the side of a hill with the high side being on the front, so there is a floor below the lobby floor. We had to figure that out on our own. We walk past the pool on our way to our room... CLOSED (hours said it should have been open). So we got into our room... it was a conference suite, so the entry room had a desk and couch. Turning on the lights immediately brought up issues. Talking in that room was very unpleasant, hard floor, no wall coverings, everything reverberated. WHY do they not have a throw rug, or acoustic paneling on the walls??? The couch was stained and nasty looking. The lights in both the conference room inside the door, and in the bathroom, seem to be the 20+ year old halogen. (I have a huge review five times as long as this telling all of the bad things at this hotel, but Expedia doesn't allow that much, just don't get a room at this hotel ever)

Experience was amazing from upon arrival to the hotel till our departure. We loved the fact it was dog friendly at this location. Definitely will stay again when we visit the Dunes.

Elevator not working, Ice machines not working. Room smaller than what was shown in pictures.

I wish that the beds were mattresses were better. I have stayed at Chesterton location for over 15 years. This stay , the mattresses were not great. I feel that the hotel needs a good face lift in all the rooms. I stayed a few months ago and Everything was terrific ! From checking in to leaving . This time around , not so much.

The front desk was very helpful. Special kudos to Alphonso who was very receptive to our questions and needs!! The service at breakfast was extremely slow, particularly with 3 children in our group.

best of the same type and cost level

The breakfast was very nice. You sit down at the restaurant in the hotel and order. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. My kids thought it was very fancy for a hotel breakfast. The front desk guy was super nice when we checked in. Really nice area with lots to do. Loved the hot tub it is pretty big. Breakfast was pretty good besides the bacon being very very crispy. The ice machine was broken on our floor, the WiFi didn’t work barely at all because I didn’t pay an extra $5 for “premium”. The pool says it’s heated online but was an ice box. So cold. Only cable tv, not a smart tv like was advertised. Limited channels nothing much to watch. Toilet chain for the handle was loose and sketchy and popped off the plug in the back of the toilet, normal wear and tear but we were scared to use it after that. It didn’t feel like a $600 stay honestly as a normal hardworking mother taking her kids on vacation but I would definitely stay there again with a few changes and on a date with cheaper rates. No towels in the pool after like 7pm Friday was inconvenient.

We had a great time. Only complaints were that the internet was down much of our overnight stay and the ice machine wasn't working. Would stay here again though. Wonderful spot if you want to visit the beach and downtown.

Clean rooms. Helpful staff. Food at the bar was very good.

Maintenance issue were poorly managed. Cold indoor pool. Hot tub jets not working Ice machines not working. Kitchen was outstanding. Front desk young man was great. Even helped out waiting tables.

This is simply not a 4-star property. Two at best. Ice machines do not work, rooms dimly lit with cheap bulbs, cracks in the ceiling, sink and shower, fuzz and dirt all over the room, bathroom exhaust fan not operable, etc. There is little else in the area so this was "the best" option but keep your standards low.

Great place to stay

In addition 5 local teenagers had entered the pool area from an outdoor access door. Poor seurity.. The windowsill had mold. The bathtub was strained. Some of the baseboards were falling off. I wasted my time going to different floors to find ice. Finally went to the front desk. They told that only 1 ice machine is working & it is on the 1st floor. You think they could have posted a note on the ice machines. I'm very disappointed with this Hilton. I paid more thinking it was a Hilton pay more to get a better place to stay. I was wrong!

Everything else… Front desk gentleman was not particularly friendly or sociable. We needed extra blankets for my son who was sleeping on the pull out couch/bed since there was only one thin blanket and a sheet. He acted like it was a chore to accommodate us, and told me that they could only spare one extra blanket. Another critique is the old TVs in the rooms… as well as the lockdown the hotel has on their settings. I couldn’t raise the screen brightness, which was annoying. I like to bring my gaming console with me whenever I travel, and just assume (perhaps wrongfully) that I’ll be able to utilize it when I have downtime. After one of their staff walked me through over the phone on how to switch video inputs (should’ve been 2 button presses on the remote), it was on video 1 - same as my console. However, since the TV was so old, it couldn’t read the input signal from my console. Some research on my phone taught me how to start my Xbox in low resolution mode (which I didn’t even know existed). All of this really just to say that for what I spent on 2 nights at a hotel, I was very unimpressed. Oh, and breakfast isn’t complimentary, it’s $20.
