Calm, clean, nice stay.

The place started to show its age.

It was very clean and bright! I felt very safe in the area and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The showers were a little small but that’s to be expected in a hostel.

Perfect location, amazing staff super clean.

If you want to stay somewhere that is well-located and the owner (Fai) gives best advice on where to go and what to to do, then About A Bed is an excellent choice! The hostel is beautifully designed, comfortable and clean. Most people staying here are very friendly, enjoy having fun and going out, but aren't the raging party types. The hostel is within a few minutes walk of the North Gate Market (eveing food stands) and the North Gate of the Old City. I can't recommend this hostel enough, and Fai is an absolute treat of a human being!

Very amazing. Fi was incredible and the rooms were perfectly air conditioned. The showers had mould.

The bathrooms could have more cleaning.

I stayed here mainly because of the high reviews online, and there are definitely some good things about this place. The location is excellent — it’s walking distance to Northgate Jazz Bar, night food streets, 7-Eleven, and even the park where morning yoga happens. Very convenient for both day and night activities in the Old Town. I also want to highlight the receptionist, Fae — she’s very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. She gave me a very warm welcome. The bed is quite hard and the mattress is very thin, so it wasn’t comfortable to sleep on. There’s also no breakfast provided. Since the hostel is located in a shophouse, there isn’t really a shared space where you can relax, socialize, or do remote work. There’s only one common area on the first floor, but it has a noticeable smell, which made it uncomfortable to sit there. For the price, I think you can find other hostels in Chiang Mai with: Softer and more comfortable beds More spacious common areas Free breakfast included

? A Hidden Gem – Truly About a Bed and So Much More! ? From the moment I stepped into About a Bed, I felt right at home. This hostel is the perfect balance of comfort, style, and warmth — exactly what every traveler dreams of. ?️ The beds? Immaculate. Super comfy, with soft linens, privacy curtains, and personal lights and outlets — they’ve truly thought about the bed in every detail. I slept better here than in most hotels! ? The atmosphere is peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully designed. Whether you’re chilling in the cozy common area, catching up on work, or making new friends over breakfast, the vibe is always calm and welcoming. ? Bathrooms are spotless, showers are hot with good pressure, and everything smells fresh and clean, although need to increase the hot water temperature ?Location is perfect — tucked away enough to be quiet at night, but close to everything you’d want to explore. ? But the best part? The staff. Kind, helpful, and genuinely passionate about making your stay the best it can be. Fai is Amazing!! If you’re looking for a place that understands what a traveler truly needs, About a Bed is your spot. I’d come back in a heartbeat! Nothing, all good, can’t complain.

The staff are kind, the accommodation is very clean, and there’s a cozy lobby where everyone can sit and chat comfortably. It’s close to places to eat and visit, all within walking distance. The room is very quiet — so quiet that you can even hear the person in the next bed turning over

Clean place, staff super friendly and very helpful. I extended because I really liked the location and quiet environment of the hostel and the surroundings. Very cute place, I felt super comfortable here!
-
Receptionist (Fai) very helpful and professional Location was good Rooms had thin mattress, very hard, need an innerspring mattress. Curtains were noisy to open / close - change to rail type of system and hang by curtain loops for silent operation. Doors only half shut and mechanism is noisy when people arrive late at night or in the morning.

Exceptional

One of the best hostels I’ve been to! The receptionist was also super nice, so highly recommended!

Really clean, just spent one night there in transit and it was perfect

This was a less social hostel but had amazing amenities and a good location. The owner was super friendly and will help you out with whatever you need.

The hostel was clean. Was sleeping cubicles were comfortable with privacy curtains. The AC was great and guest could control the temperature. On first entering the room there was a stale smell. Well, this was a female room. I attributed it to a dirty AC filter. After several days, I got used to the smell. That’s more comfortable, and the staff were great. There is a small kitchen with a fridge for storing food. Not a party hostel. Friendly. The doors to the dorm were loud when they closed. And while there is a sign by the sink for people to be quiet, not everyone adhered to this request. So the voices carried into the rooms early morning/late night.
