Fabulous setting in large grounds, with a lovely old building. Friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Only thing I would say is our room was a bit tired ….. gotta be tough maintaining an older building like this.

    Passable

The breakfast restaurant is a lovely room and the breakfast good. The furniture is grubby and the service adequate. The main restaurant was not open for Lunch or Dinner on the day we arrived. There appeared to be only 1 person running reception/the bar/housekeeping etc. and the bar was closed by 9.00pm. The hotel is clearly understaffed and lacking investment and care. The food was adequate but poor value for money - £18.00 for a fishcake - and limited choice. See above

Lovely setting and location Amazing gardens Room too hot despite having two fans. Receptionist offered alternative room but that was a double bed room not a twin that we had booked. Couldn’t eat at hotel as they “ only had 1 chef on “! Not good enough when you are staying at hotel

The location for us was good, we had a short drive to our final destination. The grounds of the hotel ,gardens , were beautiful. The architecture of the buildings and courtyard were exceptional. Nice courtyard to sit in after dinner. Apart from an excellent waitress and her male colleague who looked after us at Dinner I thought the staff were just about ok. We arrived early, room not yet ready, which we accept, but the staff member we met us was not that welcoming. When you present yourself to a hotel receptionist you kind of respect them to stand and welcome you and not sit at their desk below eye level. Could have been better. In addition the staff member who we dealt with at breakfast was poorly presented. Maybe a better staff uniform would work well. ? Poorly laid out breakfast table, we had to seek out spoons etc. Breakfast just about ok too. Dinner was nice but a little overpriced I thought. Nice fillet steak but a small piece of meat on the plate.

Beautiful location and grounds. The staff were helpful and pleasant although few in number The window in the room was small and too high to look out of otherwise the room was perfectly adequate for one night.

Beautiful location, beautiful gardens, quiet. Lovely receptionists. It was just unfortunate that for our short stay the kitchen was closed that evening due to problems and the chef didn't arrive to cook breakfast. The receptionist bless her, laid out the continental breakfast and made tea for us. The bathroom hadn't been dusted in a while and had questionable splatters up the door and walls.

Excellent breakfast , great staff , very friendly and efficient. Not many of them so all seemed to be doing all the jobs ! The waitress at breakfast was also on reception ! A few more staff , so you didn’t have to go looking for someone every time.

Lovely property, the staff were so helpful and friendly The gardens were really interesting and the location was excellent for the event we were attending. Not enough staff. The poor souls were really overstretched. Also the breakfast was not hot enough really and the menu was a bit limited for vegetarians

It is a beautiful old manor with a wonderful garden We stayed here a few years ago and the place has unfortunately gone downhill. There was only one staff member on the Friday night who was trying to cover everything and he was lovely but being Badminton Weekend he was rushing around like a lunatic trying to serve everyone. They had run out of certain wine, soft drinks & food on the menu. We did not think the menu was as good as before even the food was of a lower standard. The breakfast was disappointing as they didn’t even serve you tea/coffee you had to help yourself. The plates were cold for the cooked breakfast and items were not replaced very quickly. Also felt the sausages were cheap and the bacon could have been cooked longer. Good to see more staff but thought it was overkill as the breakfast was completely self service. The rooms are now looking very tired and need some TLC and we had to get sheets changed as they looked as if they had blood on them.
