Location is perfect. Bed comfy and good shower facilities. Handy having food available downstairs. Day 1 Manager helpful keeping our bags until check in time. We have stayed at The Royal a few times before and had a lovely experience. However, this time NOT SO! We were allocated Room 12, which we didn't find out until later in the evening, it was right above an semi-covered outdoor drinking area. We had no sleep, coupled with beer kegs being moved and a compressor that intermittently turned off and on! We know the Hotel has a 1am licence and the other rules, however we paid over $250 a night and expected to have a decent sleep. The main reason for our comments here is this. The next morning we approached the Manager on duty to ask if we could have another room. Her reply was "we're fully booked sorry" so no other option but to stay in Room 12 for another night. It was her unprofessional conduct through the conversation which was totally unhelpful. The worst was her parting comment (which I won't mention here), was really inappropriate to say the least. I believe her frustration got the better of her, sad to say. This is why will never be staying at The Royal again! So, FYI if you stay, do yourself a favour and do not go to Room 12. BTW, it needs a bit of a real good spring clean also. We had Booking.com approach the hotel to complain on our behalf and the Royal didn't have the decency to reply!! Hence, now my review here.

The location was perfect. Very central, great amenities, lovely staff, very clean and comfortable. The room was bigger than we expected. The shower was really good! We often bought dinner at the bar and they would deliver it to our room. The food there was also incredible. The heater was good and the electric blanket on the bed was perfect. Can’t fault the place! Limited parking out the back for guests but we did go during the Easter break. There was about 20 steps up to the accommodation so if you had a disability that impacted your mobility this could be an issue.

Wonderful location in the heart of Daylesford. Spacious room with access to veranda. Great shower. Good meal in bistro downstairs Noisy with both people and traffic noise. Venue dated for price.

The shower was impossible to regulate. Stone cold or boiling hot.

The location and its proximity to the Daylesford Hotel. Our room wasen’t serviced. There was no soap on the bathroom basin. They didn’t come and take away our dirty dinner plates, glasses or cutlery. The following morning they didn’t take away our dirty breakfast dishes.
