Hostel Free Bird - Adults Only

This is a nice hostel to stay in Dubrovnik, probably one of the best. It's clean, there are fridges, coffee for free and even in the ten bed dorm there is a bathroom and shower. The distance from main bus station is about 20 minutes walk and from this hostel to the old town is 30 minutes walk. Not much, it's pretty good value for a hostel. Typical noise or inconvenience comes from other guests so there is nothing the hostel owners can do about that. Everything went well and staff was helpful.

The overall facility was clean but the men's room had a ton of black mold by the shower area. It didn't bother me to much but I can see how people would not like that.

The rooms were spacious, beds were clean and staff was good. The washrooms were a bit dirty.

The showers had a lot of residue and mold was growing in the corners and on the shower curtain. It didn't seem like it had been thoroughly cleaned in some time, and looked much the same after the cleaner had finished. The other facilities were pretty good.

The place surprised me in a good fashion! Everything was very clean and it felt comfy. It was really hot when I was in town and the AC definitely came in handy. Entering the room was always a relief! It is not too close to the center but also not too far off. Also, after comparing other accommodations, this one felt like a fairer price; Dubrovnik is still quite expensive nevertheless.

I had a great stay at Hostel Free Bird. The staff were absolutely exceptional—everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. A special thanks to Esports, Antoina, and the entire team for making my stay so enjoyable. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of and created a really warm atmosphere. I truly appreciated their hospitality and would happily stay here again.

My main issue was the shower set up. There were only curtains and they didnt close all the way. The floor also is not on a slant of any kind so the entire floor and all the bath mats were soaked when I was done with my shower. Luckily there is a door that separates the sinks and toilets from the showers so it was a bit more private but still felt a little exposed.

The staff is exceptionally pleasant, the rooms are very clean, and the beds are quite comfortable. Additionally, you will have a spacious individual locker for your belongings. It would be quite convenient to have a small electrical stove, even with the existing microwave and kettle.

The woman at reception was friendly and helpful. There was a lot of space in the 10 bed dorm, it was steps away from a bus stop, and there was a reasonable place to eat right across the street. There were no privacy curtains for the beds.

It is normal My stay at Hostel Free Bird (21–24 Sep) was very disappointing. The evening receptionist treated me extremely badly when I returned a locker key late at night. I had traveled to Kotor for one night and accidentally took the key with me. Even though the hostel had other keys, I walked back around 10:30 pm to return it. I only asked to use the toilet and sit for a few hours before my 3:45 am airport shuttle. She refused everything and told me I would have to pay for a full night. I could not leave my luggage or sit in reception. She said she was following her manager’s instructions. This behavior showed no loyalty or hospitality. It was rude, unhelpful, and purely materialistic. I had already returned the key responsibly, yet I was treated as if I had done something wrong. The receptionist ignored that I had nowhere else to go and was exhausted after traveling all day. The morning receptionist, however, was very nice and professional. Cleanliness was also poor. The men’s toilet was not properly sterilized. There was a strong humidity smell in the corridors. Old shower curtains were only replaced after I complained. Management should clean toilets properly and introduce rules like removing shoes before entering rooms. I do not recommend this hostel due to unfriendly evening staff, lack of hospitality, and poor hygiene.

With only a 15-min walk from the central bus station, perfect Hostel for one night to then travel to Dubrovnik Airport. Showers and bathrooms were super clean and are separate for women and men. The staff has been super supportive throughout my stay as well. The 4-bed dorm I ended up in unfortunately didn’t have a functioning AC unit. Even through it was late September it still made sleeping a pretty hot endeavor.

Nothing My experience in this hotel was disappointing. The reception staff were unfriendly, the facilities were poor, and the overall service was bad. The location was also inconvenient. I would not recommend staying here
