I wouldn’t recommend the life saving restaurant - it was fair.

Best beach on the Coast. Great facilities

Smell throughout hotel was amazing!!! Very good! It just needs like a convenient food market,l like other hotels! we were starving after 10 and everything was closed. Pool Towels were an issue! And they should have the bar service brought to you at the beach

The misses: The Sandbar and Lifesaving Station food was mediocre. We went to the pool and two of the three times, there were no towels to be found and we had difficulty finding an employee to find us some towels. In our shower, one of the levers was not properly attached to the wall and the bathroom fan/vent did not work. One of the wall sockets in our room was not properly attached and would pull out when we would remove a plug. I asked the front desk for some silverware/plasticware and they could not find any.

The location and beach. Very loud dehumidifiers running throughout the night, disrupting our sleep. The rooms were partially cleaned. The resort is also clearly short staffed so it was hard to get towels for the pool and the beach, we had to setup the chairs and umbrellas without any help with bad backs. Clearly not the relaxing stay we were expecting.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my wife and I had a lovely stay.

We were first put in a room for the disabled (which we’re not) but we’d have stayed except for the terrible smell from MILDEW growing on the ceiling. We had to wait while 3 different staff came separately to check on it. They all verified and we waited again to be moved to a second room in another building. We were told that the shower was broken but that a repairman would be there the next day. The fact that there wasn’t a working shower in the room wasn’t a big problem for us since they said it would be fixed so we moved. But throughout our stay huge loud humidifiers were running right outside our door and down the hall 24/7. The repairman came the next day and it took hours. On top of that whatever machinery he was using was so loud we had to leave the room. The rooms we were in had definitely been neglected. The windows were dirty with old spiderwebs around the outside. The decor was minimal. Neither room had any kind of view. We’re pretty sure the resort wasn’t full so why we were given not one but two rooms in that condition we can only assume it was booking 3rd party. I did go to the front desk and let them know we were upset and they comped our dinner at the Lifesaving Station the first night If it hadn’t been for the food and the great staff at the Lifesaving Station we’d have probably left the resort early. We’ll rethink staying again in the future.

Since the resort was overbooked, we were moved to à stand alone house near the property. Wonderful upgrade. However, they asked us to move back to the resort the next day which wasn’t necessary. The new room was also great. The beach staff and porters were very helpful. The free bicycles were a delightful way to explore the area. The restaurant associated with the resort was overpriced for the meal and drinks they offered.

Location, restaurant, pool, spa, fire pits at night. Beach chairs and umbrella,Ocean view. This was our 3rd stay here. The attention to detail was not there compared to the first two times. The property went two days without a working ice machine for guest in JULY. All ice machines were down in both buildings at the same time. This seems like something that should never happen at a price point of $700+ per night. Only saw housekeeping once in 4 days on our stay. However, cart was parked outside our room every day. Just did not service room.

Although we believe some details around the property, pool, and landscaping could be improved, our overall stay was relaxing and enjoyable. Clean and nicely decorated rooms, lovely beach and pools, and mostly quiet location. The games in the upstairs lobby area need updated- the pieces are missing from most! Also loved the complementary morning coffee…just wished it would start closer to 6:30am rather than 7am.

Probably the best trained staff I’ve encountered over my 40 years of travel, they are attentive , courteous, and well trained. Very positive experience.

Superb

Excellent food and service and room and access to beach

Great location and nice amenities but the resort really wasn’t that clean. The rooms were spacious and well maintained but the common areas were a bit worn down and unkept. That said, the staff was great and very attentive.

Clean and lovely room with beachy and fun decor. Chair and umbrella service is impeccable.

Exceptional

The location The resort is positioning itself as a luxury hotel, however, it appears that the current management/service team doesn’t know how to run luxury hotels. The service is sporadic. It would be ok if not for the price they are charging. So either adjust the price or bring up the service standard.

We had a wonderful stay at The Sanderling. We were pleased to see that the interior had been recently updated. We also appreciated free use of the beach chairs and umbrellas and found the outdoor bar very convenient. Our meal at the onsite restaurant was top notch and very much enjoyed our server. Overall a great stay - we will definitely be back!
