Tru by Hilton Chapel Hill

Have stayed at this hotel several times. It's always a good place to stay in Chapel Hill. Clean. Great staff. Convenient location.

Breakfast is basically a more complete continental breakfast. It's OK but nothing special. Parking could be made free with a parking tag. Why is there separate bill item for it?

We really like the staffs here. They are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is well maintained and clean. We will definitely stay at this hotel next time we are in town.

I have stayed at this property multiple times over the past year since I have a student at UNC Chapel Hill. I booked and paid for my stay in advance through Expedia. Beware of receiving emails directly from Hilton asking you to input your credit card to pay for incidentals and to receive a digital key! Once I put my debit card number in, they charged me $500 for a 2-day stay which I had already paid for in full through the Expedia app. At check-in, I had to show the front desk worker proof of my payment before she would cancel the $500 charge. And she was quite rude about it too, blaming me for the error. She begrudgingly canceled the charge but, four days later, it is still showing as a pending charge on my bank account. Therefore, I am out of $500 I guess until Hilton is good and ready to release the pending charge. I have tried to work with Hilton directly about the issue, the front desk staff at Tru, and the manager at Tru. All to no avail. I will no longer be staying at this property because of this issue.

The cleanliness of the hotel, common space, as well as the hotel room was noteworthy. The staff are friendly, responsive, and welcoming. Free breakfast is included and it offered hot food such as eggs, sausage, pancakes, and fresh fruit and not just your typical continental breakfast with stale pastries that most hotels offer for their “free breakfasts.” My stay was to move my daughter into her dorm at nearby UNC Chapel Hill and the location is close by and convenient. I will be returning for sure. Only negatives were that the toaster didn’t work and there wasn’t a closet in the rooms and just a rack to hang up your clothes. Overnight parking is nominal at $6, but it would have been nice to have that included with the hotel fees,
