Design, location, cleanliness and staff

Good location — perfect if, like us, you need to take the bus to or from the airport, the ferry port, or to explore the island. It’s a great base, less than a 10-minute walk from Fira’s central bus station, and the walk is on flat ground. We asked the hotel to arrange a taxi transfer from the airport to the hotel since there’s only one bus per hour in each direction. Otherwise, considering the hotel’s location, there’s really no need to spend money on a taxi — unless you’re traveling with several people or have large luggage. The hotel itself is very pretty, just like the photos show, with two pools — one outdoor and one indoor (which is heated, a nice touch). Front desk staff, especially Anna, was very helpful, attentive, and responsible, both before and during our stay. We are a couple and stayed in a Deluxe Double Room. The room doesn’t look small at first, but it feels a bit cramped — there isn’t even a single chair inside. If you want to sit down, you can only sit or lie on the bed. There are two chairs and a small round table on the balcony, but none inside the room. In our case, the balcony light wasn’t working. We stayed for four nights, so this was slightly inconvenient, though it may not be an issue for someone staying just one or two nights and spending most of the day out exploring. We also booked a catamaran tour through the hotel. It was around 30 euros more per person than if we had booked directly online, but it gave us the flexibility to decide based on the weather and other conditions instead of having to book days in advance.

Love it. Fantastic hotel with very all the facilities and best stuff. The lady at the front desk recommended a boat trip which is really the highlight of the whole trip!

The hotel space is gorgeous, it has a designer feeling. It is also conveniently located a few minutes from the heart of Thira with all the shops and restaurants. It is close the bus terminal and has a large supermarket nearby. The staff was easy to communicate with and they kindly arranging a transfer to the hotel. They also assisted with an early check-in. The room was very spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed the small bacony. We truly appreciated the acces to the outdoor pool after a long day of exploring. Overall, although the room was different from what we expected, we are happy to recommend Uma Ray to anyone. The current description (june 2025) of the superior queen room on booking isn’t accurate. The special feature of the room is an “access” to the pool and the “sea view” refers to a street view, with a glimpse of the sea, a few kms away. It is not a caldera view. Considering the hotel location and the wording used to describe the room, this may cause some confusion.

We had an absolutely beautiful stay here in 2023. A well designed nest looking out to the pool, greenery, and birds. COCOMAT mattress and bedding was lovely. The hosts were wonderful and the breakfast (which they no longer serve) was great. 2025: Our 35th Anniversary and we booked the same room, receiving a confirmation that it was the same room shortly before arriving, but when we arrived we were told there was a mix up. My husband was offered an upgrade shortly before we arrived, which inexplicably resulted in the room we originally booked being given to someone else. The room we were given was tiny and dark (no room even for luggage) and as another guest commented with a tiny TV hidden behind the coffee machine (yes, that small, not that we cared about TV) there were broken fixtures and the bed was uncomfortable, with a pit in the center. The tiny, dirty balcony overlooked the street, parking lot, and the ugly backside of bare buildings. Breakfast is no longer offered. Disappointing. Although the woman who welcomed us and whom we remembered from our first stay was nice, the owner did nothing to make our stay better. We decided to leave the next day, a day earlier than planned. I think most rooms are nice but this one was utterly depressing, tiny, and uncomfortable, and still expensive, so we cannot recommend. ?

The hotel is very well localized. It's very near the main area of Fira and also very close to the bus station. There are many facilities nearby like supermarket, pharmacy and rent a car. The staff of the hotel was always super nice to us and very helpful. The hotel has 2 pools (interior and exterior) and towels are provided, which is great! The room is not huge but is enough for two persons, especially taking into consideration the balcony. Everything was great.

Very clean and tidy room! The hotels look very new and modern. The swimming pool looks good (although we didn’t try it). Also very great location near to market, restaurant, and bus stop. The staffs are very nice. It also provide taxi service from and to the airport. The room is somehow poor of ventilation, but with A/C it would not be a great problem. The switch of the light for the balcony of our room is broken and the light for the balcony kept on all the nights. Although it could be mostly covered by the curtains, but still a little bit annoying.

Superb

This hotel was in a great location, peaceful and very modern. It has a lovely pool area and the rooms are excellent. We had a pool room view. The hotel owners are really nice and made our stay really relaxed. I was so happy we booked this hotel as it suited all our needs and was in easy walking distance of the town and caldera view points. My best wishes to the owners I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The room came with a coffee maker. We requested a kettle and some cups and they were provided immediately. There are no negatives. The hotel does not provide breakfast any more but there are so many places nearby and we do brunch more than breakfast. I can't think of anything not to like with this hotel.

Exceptional

Everything! The Uma Ray Suites is perfect for a solo traveler or couples. The staff is amazing! They were available any time I needed them. They helped me plan tours, order in food, and made sure I had everything I needed. The grounds were emaculate! Two pools, plenty of space for relaxing or hanging out. The room was beyond spacious with a very comfortable bed and great balcony. The location is near a supermarket, a 3 min walk from the city center, and a 5 minute walk to a gorgeous sunst over looking the sea. I truly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it for anyone going on holiday. Nothing

Friendly owners, good location close to bus station and Fira center, good equipment, flexible and reactive, definitely recommended!

We had the loveliest stay at Uma Ray suites. We had the pool view room which had its own private double sun lounger which was really special. We could access the pool from the room as well which was nice! The staff were so friendly, helpful and attentive. We were given pool towels, and there were robes and slippers too. We didn’t use the indoor pool, but it looked very clean and was heated. The outside pool was also very clean and nice and refreshing! The location was great , only 5 mins from the bus station and 2 mins from lovely restaurants with unreal views. We would love to come back & stay here again, and would definitely recommend!

Very clean facility and close to most amenities. I did like most everything except the hill you have to climb to get to it.

great location. Friendly staff. Room and facility was very clean. Small room. safety box with passcode did not work, so had to use keys.

Uma Ray was in a fantastic location. Close to many restaurants and where all the major shopping happens in Santorini. It was a very comfortable room with great amenities. I didn’t love having an actual key to lock my room and the breakfast spread could be expanded more, otherwise it was a great hotel with friendly staff.

Everyone was amazing …staff and location! I can’t think of a thing!
