Hotel San Giovanni

I loved the amazing location, the nice informative staff, and the beautiful classical room. Truly a wonder how this massive beautiful room is available for such a reasonable price. Wifi was not penetrating into the rooms, and even in the common room it wasnt very strong.

It was so close to everything and the interior was really nice and everything was clean No AC and not very good WiFi. The WiFi only worked in the common area other than that it was really spotty

This was a unique and old charming room with antique like decorations. The room was very large and clean and the location was a 10/10 with it right in the centre of Florence right next to the cathedral! The staff were kind and provided recommendations. The room comes with a small private bathroom. There was no AC in the room just a fan which made it unbearable to sleep in during July with nights still at 30 + degrees.The room had little ventilation and we had difficulty opening the windows. The was a stinky smell in the hallway and little ventilation in the bathrooms. We would not recommend this stay in the Summer.

Outstanding location - photo shown was the view from our room. Very helpful staff. Large clean room. Soundproof windows. Unexpected but tiny fridge. Quite loud if you open the windows and just a fan so can get either hot or loud. There's a "lift" (good for 1 or 2 small people) that enters and exits onto stairs so be careful. Our bed (room 1) was very squeaky.

Fantastic location! Beautiful old world decor in the room felt like we were staying in a museum. Wifi was challenging. Bathroom wasn't great.

Amazing location, right near the dome! Lift works, our room had aircon (the kind that’s through the window) There was a funny smell and it was still hot (we were there during the heatwave though)

The location was fantastic. Right outside the duomo!. You cannot ask for a better location. The ceiling painting, large room and quaint character was amazing. If you like retro/art decor kinda place you can’t ask for more! The aircon and fan were excellent. I didn’t have any issue with external street noise. The windows closed ok the only noise was from the air con.! I only got back after the street activities finished so perhaps if you want to turn in early you might hear some noise. I didn’t have a problem. I didn’t have an internal bathroom… so it was annoying to having to lock and open the bathroom every time… but since I spent most of the time out it didn’t matter to w much. However in the middle of the night it was a bit of a pain. The elevator was scary like a cage:)… however did the job as going up and down the stairs in the heat would not have been possible.

Very kind staff, gorgeous room and facilities, amazing location with a beautiful view of the canal, and a high powered air conditioning unit! Nothing to complain about. Will stay here on our next trip to Venice!

The only positive was it was right by the Duomo and within walking distance of all the main attractions, which made exploring Florence very convenient. The property also falsely advertises air conditioning on Booking.com. When we arrived, we were given a tiny fan that barely made a difference, and were then told that actual air conditioning is only available in the “premium” rooms for an extra charge. The beds felt like cheap pop-up beds, with extremely thin and hard mattresses that were very uncomfortable. The Wi‑Fi was terrible throughout the building, and because of the thick walls there was almost no phone signal either. We were lucky that our room could sometimes connect to the Wi‑Fi, but many guests were sitting in the check-in area near the couch just trying to get internet access.

Excellent location . Very close to all the sites. .Large spacious room. Easy check in after hours as by key pad. Not disturbed at all by the bells. Wifi not good in room, only in reception areas. 65 steps to climb up to room, but there was a small lift.

The location was excellent and close to everything. The room was spacious , but it was not clean. Sometimes there was no hot water in the bathroom, the curtains were dusty. Everything was old, especially the elevator which seemed very outdated. I was afraid it might stop while I was inside.
