Muntri Grove

Room is spacious, beautiful decoration Staffs were very attentive and friendly. Great location, easy access to town by walking. The bed is firm which we like it. Noise from neighbors at night until late night was very disturbing and super difficult to sleep. The hotel provided earplugs but didn’t help much. Perhaps next trip we must avoid weekend. Shower set could be improved in order to get better water pressure.

We had a wonderful stay at Munti Grove! The staff was very friendly and gave us suggestions for nice breakfast and dinner locations. The room was clean and spacious, and the pool was refreshing. There is indeed some noise from a nearby bar, but nothing we couldn't sleep from.

I like the cool heritage style. Loud music from neighboring bar.

A bit overpriced in my opinion. The windows were giving on the outside corridor for every guest to go in their rooms. It had charm, but lacking some privacy.

A very traditional place to stay in central Penang. Room was good with authentic decor. Pool was a bonus. Staff were helpful.

The staff were so helpful with everything from directions to restaurant recommendations. This gracious and elegant boutique hotel is super clean, and I loved the little pool with a fountain and sun deck. Absolutely a tranquil oasis in the heart of George Town.

I loved everything.

This was one of 5 places we stayed at in George Town.The original room on the ground floor had issues with mold, paint peeling off the walls. When we broached our concern, the resourceful staff graciously offered a solution. Our new room was wonderful, from the high wooden ceiling to the comfortable seating area where one could lounge. It felt like we were visiting a favorite aunty’s home, all the nostalgia you need to slip into the past, effortlessly. The architecture, especially the modernization that complimented the original heritage home and the decorative accents from a bygone age made the experience worth while. Touches like the four poster bed with mosquito net added utilitarian charm, adjustable shutters that allowed light in, or shut it out. The ceiling fan and AC. We could draw the curtain for more privacy, or let in more light otherwise. The ample supply of filtered water from the dispenser on the 1st floor, and glass reusable water bottles. Cooling off in the pool at night. Toilet paper could not be flushed. Sadly the noise from the nearby open air karaoke bar (till 2am during the week) is unbearable. We came prepared with earplugs as some prior reviews mention this.

Room is spacious and beautifully appointed in simple Peranakan style. Originally the building housed the servants for the family in the Muntri Mews, and the understated decor of the rooms reflects this. The gorgeous poster bed being the exception! Landscaping and 1st floor pool makes you feel like you are in an oaisis away from the busy Penang streets while also placing you very close to everything old George Town has to offer. There are not many rooms so there is a feeling of coming home at the end of a busy day with staff being very welcoming and approachable. Felt very safe returning to the hotel at night. Nothing. This hotel was exactly what I was looking for.

It was very nice. The room was big and very comfortable. The location was nice. The stuffs were extremely helpful. We enjoyed our stay there.

Hotel staf and hotel met expectations The loud music and karaoke that went on until 2am every night killed all enjoyment not to mention our sleep!!

- Location in terms of closeness to to Center - Adequate staff - Insanely loud, every day 7 days a week you will hear club music and base which is just in front. Changing the room will not help, the further you go from reception there will be another sound issue - huge ventilation system working 24/7

Exceptional

Good location, friendly staff, spacious room with old world charm. Free minibar and water daily, tea and coffee in room. Ground floor was nice as we had a little table and chairs outside. The pool didn't look particularly inviting as it was a little green and there are no loungers so we didn't use that area at all. We did have an issue with the air-conditioning but it was fixed after reporting twice.
