Excellent location. Breakfast and dinner was fantastic, food is really fresh with many varieties. Though is room and hotel is slighty old and dated, it is simple and clean. The outdoor onsen is fantastic, definitely enjoyed that more than the indoor onsen, which I felt is a bit stuffy. The ryokan is quite and feels really private, away from all the buzz. Complimentary coffee at the lounge is surprisingly good. Recommended! The pillows are too hard, not what I would have preferred, there is some kind of beans/beads in it.

Location and good dinner and breakfast service Not the best Onsen, I am ok with the hotel Onsen, but there are other hotels with better Onsen settings

The hotel was close to the train station This is a very famous town for Onsens , however the Onsen of this hotel is very mediocre , small , simple , also the dinner was very mediocre with lots of cold jello type foods and only a small amount of meat with veggies in a hot pot , we were disappointed because we were looking for a better experience than that . My husband enjoyed the breakfast .

Nice personal, good food Is a little carelessness

It was easy to get to from the train station, and the hosts were very gracious and accepted our luggage early. The meals were amazing and the onsen were very clean and perfectly maintained.

There meal was beautiful, it’s there traditional meal. I enjoyed it but some people might have a hard time because of there’s seafood and fish. Too close to train station and the road. If you are a light sleeper like me then I would go for an another hotel. The place was old and too much of weird perfume or air spray.

The dinner and breakfast were very good. Our room was specious and comfortable. The onsen outdoor is recommended. The indoor one is rather stuffy. Appreciate the convenient parking right next to entrance.

The Onsen Ryokan is close to train station, within walking distance even with 28" luggage. The rooms are spacious for 3 adults. The half board meals are satisfying and delicious. Amenities are easily accessible near Ryokan. Gero Onsen Town is nice and easy to explore around. Near park with rows of Sakura Trees and foot bath pond beside the river. Plain yukata only.

Clean and accommodating. Great customer service. Great staffs.

Only wish you could reserve the onsen to be private

Less than 2 mins stroll to the back of the train station. Surrounding has a few eateries and souvenir shops. More eateries once one crosses the river which is also less than 2 mins away from the property. Mini mart are also located across the river. Extremely convenient location especially one is catching a morning train. Despite close proximity to the train station, the property is very quiet. Checking in and out were a breeze. Staff are polite, friendly and efficient. Most staff can communicate in English. One can store luggage with the property prior to checking in and after checking out. My traditional japanese room is spacious, comfortable and clean. Futon bed was already spread out when I checked in. The room comes with the usual amenities. Breakfast and dinner were served NOT in the room but in the restaurant in an individual enclosure. Food is well presented and very delicious with a good variety. The experience was great. Though it would be better if meals were served in the room. The onsen is superb. Especially the outdoor pool in winter. Not very big though. But one should be able to have it all to oneself if one chooses to use the onsen during off peak hours.

The location is amazing, minutes from the station. We were able to drop off our luggages before check-in and went exploring the town. Our luggages were in our room when we checked in. The room was clean and had the authentic feel. Food was amazing with great attention and service from staff. The onsen was very relaxing and we must’ve picked our times well because we had the place to ourselves. We had no trouble communicating in English. The futons were already laid out when we checked in (before dinner) so the room was a bit awkward to walk around.

The staff are very helpful especially the reception. Food(both bf.and dinner) are regular nothing interesting compare to the price.

We loved absolutely everything! From the moment I stepped through the door I felt so calm and peaceful. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and happy! The facilities were amazing, the onsen was so relaxing and meals were 10/10 -

Extremely close to the station and the main road of the city. Still very quiet and relaxing. Onsen is small but almost always open. Staff doesn’t speak English and sometimes is a bit too direct/harsh, felt almost like a military environment, with fixed schedules and strict rules
