Great location, friendly staff, good...

Great breakfast - warm toast on a toast rack! Excellent butter. The large field mushroom, cooked perfectly. Attentive service. Great lounge area to relax in, with games. Comfy beds, nice view from room of fruit orchard and garden. Could have provided plant milk such as soya or oat at breakfast - that would have been the only improvement to breakfast. Couldn’t have improved the service. The main issues with the room were the bedside lamps and the shower. One could not plug in (just there for show). Other flickered and had to turn it off. Shower was impossible to get right - scalding hot mixer or freezing cold, with very little water coming out. I wasn’t able to wash my hair. Poor water pressure to room. Needs a separate shower unit. Found a contact lens case on the bathroom floor - not ours. Other than that, bathroom very clean.

Lovely food great nights stay only a couple of things the bed shook a loud bang from downstairs like a big door closing 4 times the music at breakfast was not good 1940 dizzy galesply trumpets blasting and the sound of them cleaning the lines at the bar wanted to make want to go to the toilet every 5mins apart from that I would come and stay over again staff were so polite and caring food was awesome thank you:)

Evening bistro menu limited, but we enjoyed our choices. Breakfast good but slightly slow service, and we had to request our pot of tea - we weren't asked for our preference when we sat down. Floor tiling to the bathroom crazed in places, but was clean. The bath was clean, but the plughole had hairs and black sludge which I had to remove. Room 9 was above the service archway, and we were woken at 5.45 by the door below slamming and shaking our bedroom floor, and loud discussion. At check out, to be asked for full payment, when this had already been settled via booking.com

The main areas of the hotel are very cosy and the staff amazing and friendly. Great food and a gorgeous location. The public facilities on the Ground Floor feel like nothing has happened to them since the 1970s. The upstairs corridors also felt like they could do with some TLC. Our double was fine, the bed a bid small but the view onto a flat roof let us down big time. Nothing like this was shown on the example photos. Even a well planted window Box would have made this room feel a bit more welcoming.
