Prince Charlie's Cottage

The room was a bit cramped

Our room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Our host, Carolyn, was lovely and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The location of Prince Charlies Cottage was perfect for us and we were able to explore the surrounding area. We would certainly recommend Prince Charlies Cottage to everyone. We could not fault Prince Charlies Cottage. Everything was done perfectly and with the minimum of fuss. The breakfast we had was lovely and of a very good size. There is nothing I could suggest to improve on what Carolyn is already doing and we would certainly stay again.

We stayed here to attend a wedding. It was the perfect location, being just across the road from the wedding venue. Carolyn greeted us when we arrived and was so friendly, she made us feel at home. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast choices were perfect and the food well cooked and delicious. This is a gem of a guest house, we will recommend it to anyone travelling to Gretna Green. Thank you Carolyn, you were the perfect hostess.

Caroline, our host. Perfect protein-rich breakfasts to keep us going through the day. Location - there is a path next to and behind the cottage which, if you could figure it out if you get off a train, takes you right to Prince Charlie's Cottage. Tolerated our bringing our own food in, and kindly phoned for us for food delivery, which was very good and the least expensive we'd found in Scotland. So it was very relaxing. Caroline is a pro and has been doing B&B for thirty-six years and shows it. She kindly moved us into the largest guest room as soon as it became available. We were out on private tours for 2 days so being away from the heart of the town was no problem. The cottage is sweet, lovely flowers and a bench to sit outside, we felt very well looked-after. Most of the other guests at breakfast were retired Brits travelling in their cars, and we had fun chatting. The Gretna Green train station is a platform. We were naively expecting taxis. Apparently no taxis, or, never expect one to be waiting at the train station, which is far from the town core. That train route south to Glasgow then south to Gretna Green is a commuter subway, except above ground, which of course we did not know. But there was a big round sign saying Do you need help? If so press the button. And, like Alice in Wonderland, a person answered and told us how to walk to Prince Charlie's Cottage which was only about 300 m away!

Breakfast was delicious and you could tell that the owner loves what she does!

Perfectly located just a few hundred meters walk from the train station. Comfy, has everything you need. Breakfast good, super fast check in. Noisy with the window open with the road just there - fine with window closed. A bit noisy in the property when people get up in the mornings and clunk around - think I was just unlucky with some early departures.

Excellent stay with Carolyn who was very friendly, good sized room, great breakfast, ample parking. Great location for a final night stay before the long drive back down south, and for walking to both Gretna and Gretna Green. Nothing

Carolyn is a fab host. Breakfast was excellent and was a great central location in Gretna Green. Not just for weddings but also very interesting history.

Carolyn was welcoming on arrival. She has a lovely persona which makes visitors feel at home. The room had everything required for a comfortable stay. It was quiet so no problems sleeping.High level of cleanliness which could set an example to some hotels. Good breakfast. Plenty of parking for guests. Photos on Booking.com do not do the property justice as it is much nicer when visited. Would highly recommend. Could not fault it

Exceptional

This cottage is a little gem. Carolyn made us very welcome and gave us a choice of rooms. We choose room 4 which is almost like a little annexe on the side of the cottage. Our stay was perfect and exceptional value for money. Great location for Gretna Outlook shops and motorway both north and south. We will definitely return.
