The Stavrand Russian River Valley

The location was beautiful, that perfect getaway from city bustle. Perfectly tucked away but walkable distance to the main street for food and access to Johnson's Beach. The staff was wonderful and friendly. We were blown away by the breakfast and all the small things like s'mores kits, wine time and areas to sit and relax while taking in nature.

I can't wait to return here. The staff is unassuming, sweet, fun, and genuine. The rooms are beautiful: beds super comfortable like sleeping in a cloud! It was unique to have a room in the main house but it was perfect as that's where we played cards in the sunroom and where nightly wine tasting takes place. The food is excellent, do partake in the dinner...it's worth it! The evening is made complete with the complimentary Smores kits. This place is perfect for both a girlfriend getaway as well as a romantic one.

Friendly staff, nice hotel

The Stavrand was a great place to spend a few days. The staff was great, the breakfast at the beginning of the day and the wine tasting at the end of it were both lovely. The staff was really helpful with recommendations for dinner in the area, all were spot on. There is a lot of land surrounding the hotel, its part orchard, gardens and Red Wood trees. I was not pleased to find out that one of the two rooms we booked was very small. The price was the same, but one was decidedly inferior. The pool is not heated and the hot tub was not in working order for the time that we were there. We also had an issue with the credit card payment, perhaps they don't accept AMEX? They just couldn't process the payment and it felt uncomfortable, this has never happened before or since.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at this charming hotel and we had an amazing experience. From the afternoon wine tasting to the sparkling pool to the delicious breakfasts and gourmet dinner, no detail was overlooked!! The serving staff were exceptional and handed our dining experience. There was even a lovely hand drawn watercolor map provided that guided us through the gardens and orchard (and a few deer) to the footbridge that led across the Russian River into the bustling town of Guerneville, maybe a 20 min walk. The room and bedding were very comfortable and many amenities were provided ( books, games, puzzles, bikes, a hammock and evening smores around the fire pits!). Thank you for a memorable stay!

Quiet location, attention to detail, kindness of people exquisite taste in decorating.

Had a great stay. Location, staff, food were all top notch!

We stayed here as a family, and our son had the most wonderful time, jumping in the pool, hiking around the property, and even trying a plum or two straight from the tree. It felt peaceful for us and magical for him, which is such a rare and lovely combination. A beautiful stay, thoughtful in all the right ways.

We had a wonderful time there for our 25th anniversary! Everything was fabulous! Highly recommend getting the breakfast in the morning!

Amazing hotel and staff

Excellent location, very close to Guerneville, Armstrong Redwood State Park, Healdsburg and Russian River Wine Country. Beautifully maintained house and grounds. Excellent service with deserved Michelin "Two Keys" recognition. Very cute intimate Inn, with fun and relaxing wine tasting on site each evening along with help yourself smores (and cozy outdoor fire pits). Highly recommend! Will stay again.

Such a beautiful property and the staff are amazing! From check-in to check-out, everything was wonderful. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary and were offered a complimentary upgrade as well as some chocolates and a card. The staff were so nice and thoughtful. We loved the peacefulness of the redwoods and the garden nearby. I wished we had had more time to spend than one night, but we’ll definitely come back next time we’re in the area!

Location is very good. Staff is very helpful. Room felt a bit cramped! No chair to sit. Small bathroom. Free breakfast was just basic. No juice, no toast. More options should be included for free breakfast.

The property is gorgeous, clean, well kept and the staff is fantastic. My only complaint is the noise. I was trying to take an afternoon nap but they were trying to fix a door and it was like they were drilling / messing with the door in my ear. You can hear every step and every word in this hotel. Also the hot water took a good 5 minutes or more, it was shocking how long it actually took. I thought that was a waste of water. Would live to stay here again.

Sound insulation was very poor.
