Wow! Wow! That's what came out of the mouths of all seven family members who stayed at Sekitan. We were awed by the spectacular view, the eclectically perfect blend of Japondi and traditional house architecture and interior design, the food and pottery art we feasted on every breakfast and dinner (must-do Japanese menu!), and over-the-top service. Even my Hiroshima relatives vouched that this is a next-level luxury ryokan.

Staying at Sekitei was such a stunning, relaxing, indulgent experience. My husband and I travel very often, and always try to stay somewhere unique and special (whether it’s a 5-star hotel, or a low-key hostel), and this really exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we felt like special guests, gently and kindly taken care of at every turn. Our room felt like a home unto itself, a combination of classic Japanese and midcentury modern styling, decorated with unique treasures and books. The private onsen, a walk through the garden before sake tasting in the lounge overlooking the koi pond, a beautiful dinner served in our room, waking up to the view over the bay — every single thing was careful and charming. We’ll treasure our time at Sekitei forever.

Beautiful stay and super calm and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was super nice and made our stay very nice. The dinner was also really great! The western breakfast could have been better and we expected a bit more for a 2 Michelin star stay - it was quite basic. Also the dinner could have been served a little bit slower, we ate a lot of courses in such a short time and it was difficult to enjoy it.
