Everything and everyone. Hiina was so welcoming. From picking us up at the station to taking us back when we had to leave. Greeting us. Putting a bandaid on my leg. Holding umbrellas over our heads as we came and went. Fresh ukatas every day. Wonderful choice of outdoor onsen overlooking the sea. Exquisite local food. Everyone who worked there took time to greet us and make sure we were comfortable. Hiina is also a short walk or hotel shuttle ride to the Izu Atagawa station where you can take short train day trips on the eastern shore of the Izu Penninsula. The food was too good. We felt bad not being able to finish all the exquisite foods they served us each morning and evening.

The private rotenburos, private room for dining, outstanding quality of food and presentation, the young and enthusiastic staff. Bedside lamps for reading and maybe somewhat thicker futons.

The staff are nice and friendly and helpful. The hotel is well managed and facilities feels new and clean. There are 7 free out-door private onsens available, which are very nice and easy to use and were never full during our stay. The sea view in the room is great especially for watching sun-rise. Half-board meals provided were great with numerous seafood dishes including lobster and abalone etc which are over our expectation. We could park our car right in front of the hotel which was very convenient. We had a very nice experience staying here for 2 nights. The neighborhood is quiet and feels very local. Besides the great sea view there are not much around. Our room is on 2nd floor which was pretty close to the street and there were some noises from cars but luckily it was not a busy street anyway.

Service was great, location was breath-taking being next to the ocean. The room size was decent and the private bath inside our room had a wonderful view. Also enjoyed the private dining room for both breakfast and dinner. The public bath (with private bath options) were all very peaceful and decent. nothing

Location is next to the sea with good view of sunrise. Also, the hotel is good for visit to Jogasski coast and Kawasu 7 waterfalls are within 30 mins drive. Excellent private onsens for use. Kaiseki food quality could be better especially the breakfast. Lower level rooms have power lines blocking sunrise view. Also, the hotel is directly in front of a street with some traffic noise.

The hospitality was so good. They treated us like their own. The room was large and very clean as expected. The private and public onsens were so relaxing and beautiful. The breakfast and dinner were probably the 2 best meals we had in our lives. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone!

Room has wonderful view Train station location

This is a really difficult review because this place is a little unusual. It's a very old fashioned inn with excellent service and outstanding food. The onsen baths are all beautiful and very relaxing. View is quite lovely. However the inn itself is quite tired and in need of updating. For this reason alone I find the price a bit steep and so I have scored it lower. Tattiness of the rooms, power lines in front of the inn.

The staff at Hiina goes above and beyond, even according to the already very high Japanese standards. Even though we only came across one staff member that spoke fluent English, all the staff was incredibly polite, helpful, and sweet. We felt like royalty. They picked us up at Izu-Atagawa station and dropped us back after we checked-out. Our room, despite dated and needing some renovations, was lovely. We had a wonderful sea view, a spacious balcony with our own small onsen and an outdoor shower area, a spacious tatami style living room as well as an entrance that had two sinks and the toilet in a separate small room. Despite having our own onsen, we ventured to the ones spread throughout the property and loved them. The view of every single one is beautiful as they all face the sea, they're all extremely private and with spacious private shower facilities. Lastly, the meals. I would start by saying that even for adventurous food eaters like us, some things were a bit intimidating, and since the lovely lady serving our meals didn't speak a word of English, most of the time we had no idea what we were eating. Nevertheless, they accommodated us since we don't eat meat. Our second dinner and second breakfast were divine, especially the dinner, because the staff adjusted our meals based on what we ate and didn't eat from our first meals, which shows a great level of care and attention to detail. For this reason, our first meals were good but not as fantastic as the second ones. No USB outlets to charge our phones. We felt that the onsens water was a bit too warm for us as we couldn't stay fully submersed for more than a couple of minutes at a time, but maybe that's just normal Japanese onsen temperatures. The room clearly needs an update but the common areas are in a perfect state.
