Long Hostel

Good location, Good value, good breakfast, very kind family. They let me use their kitchen to cook, thank you

The location is great, easily walkable to the spectacular Bui Vien party street, but on a quiet side alley. Area has lots of cheap food, 24-hour convenience stores, and long-distance bus companies. The owner seemed earnest about making up for their double-booking issue, by finding an alternative place for me and inviting me to use her drinking water dispenser until she closed the doors at 11pm, and also offering me free breakfast for the next day (though I couldn't avail, because it was in the morning and I needed to stay up late and sleep in). Owner speaks pretty good English. I unfortunately didn't get to experience or even see the rooms or dorms, because the property did not honor my Booking.com reservation (the common area didn't look like anything special, and was hot). Only after I arrived did they tell me that someone had booked the last bed by another method soon before I made my reservation. From other reviews, it sounds like similar things have happened multiple times, and this is really not an acceptable use of the Booking platform - in most places this almost never happens. They should be blocking off the space in Booking immediately when other reservations come in, and if occasionally they're too late, they should contact the customer immediately (I arrived at least an hour or two after reserving). The owner did find me another place right across the street, which was slightly cheaper, but seemed not as good. I gave in to their request that I cancel myself, because I'm bad at saying no, but they really should be accepting the consequences of their mistake rather than asking the disappointed guest to help them get out of trouble. Somehow Booking still asked me to write a review though, so I guess that's good.

Been a while since the last time I stayed here. A bit taken aback there were no toiletries anymore for the dorm room. Wasn't a big deal, but would've been nice to know before arrival.

Should have Lift

Great location, very close to Bui Vien Walking Street but in quiet area. The room was equipped with everything you need: Many hangers, desk and chair, microwave, smart TV with Netflix. Also nice little balcony. Breakfast was good. The cleaning level was bad- a lot of ants, some dust on stuff. Also some stuff left from previous guests- plastic bags, earphones. The minibar didn't work.

Breakfast was pretty good. Not a lot of selection, but good. The coffee was very good but a bit small. The proprietess is excellent. Speaks English well, uses Whatsapp to communicate with clients, and very helpful. I checked out unexpectedly late in the afternoon and she was great about it. The area is very busy and can be noisy, but this place is down a tiny side street too narrow for lots of traffic. Also the room I was in overlooked other buildings, so far away from the street. Given the area, the rooms were surprisingly quiet. There was a huge flood and we were walking in thigh-deep water to get back to the hostel. The location of Long is a bit higher than just down the street, though, and it was above the water and didn't get flooded. Pay attention to the floodplain when you are choosing a place to stay. There is no smoking allowed inside. VERY SMALL ISSUES: The room was quite clean, but not perfect. As it often happens the dust under the bed can be missed. If I was the manager, there would be no shoes allowed indoors at all, which is the policy in a few of the other places on the same street and in the same neighborhood. I think it is a good policy, and would prefer it, but it did not mean there was a lot of dirt on the floors or that it affected my stay. One room had no AC and then I had to move to another, which did have AC, but the price was the same. I had my laundry done there and they did a good job, However, they had rather heavily scented detergent, which I did not like and which clung to my clothes for a long time--until the next wash! I asked them to separate some clothes that should not have been dried and they either didn't understand me or missed it somehow.

The location is good as well, as you can walk to the city's financial center from the hostel. The free breakfast was great as well. You definitely should try the banana pancakes:) There is a nice morning market 20 meters from the hostel. I would highly recommend staying here.

I didn't like that the room was a bit small, the bed was okay but might be too small for two people, the pillows were a bit too high, not so comfortable and the TV didn't work.

Amazing hostal, friendly staff with clean and comfy rooms. They had a good breakfast. Right in downtown

Its always good, one of the best in pham ngu lao area. Very nice staff and great value for money Jam at breakfast is too sweet! Perhaps get a laughing cow cheese + herb option for breakfast??!

Exceptional

I had to checkin in the middle of the night and it was smooth self check-in with clear instructions. The banana pancake at breakfast was really good. The location is great with easy access to nearby attractions. The family stays on the ground floor so it feels lovely, would have loved to have had some more time to interact with them more. The owners are very sweet. The private room was on the 4th floor with no lift so that was a bit of a climb, especially with heavy bags.

Will always be my home away from home. Maintenance would still be an edge. So hoping to keep up with everything

I liked the staff. Vedy nice, kind and easy communication. Helpfull! Extremely noisy. I read in the reviews that it is in small street our of the noise but reality was different. I could not really sleep there. Then the cleanliness: I had in the bed lot of dark lond and short hair (I’m blond). The floor was not clean as well.
