Hippocampus Hotel

We stayed at Hippocampus Hotel in Kamari for six nights in June 2026, and we had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, but what really made our stay special was the incredibly kind and welcoming staff. They genuinely care about making sure guests have a great holiday, not only at the hotel but also on Santorini. During check-in, they took the time to tell about the island, recommended the best beaches and places to visit, and answered all of our questions. They also offer early check-in if your room is ready. If it isn't, you can leave your luggage, borrow a towel, and head straight to the beach while you wait. Our stay included breakfast, and we especially want to thank the amazing chef, Sveta. The breakfast was delicious every morning, with a great variety of fresh food. It wasn't just a standard continental breakfast - there were also traditional Greek dishes, freshly cooked options, and excellent desserts. The hotel has two nice clean swimming pools with comfortable sunbeds. The pool area is surrounded by beautiful greenery, large trees, creating a peaceful atmosphere that feels like a little oasis away from the city. The location is excellent—just a 2 min walk from Kamari's main promenade, where you'll find plenty of restaurants, bars, and the beautiful beach. Many beach sunbeds are free to use as long as you order food or drinks from the restaurant they belong to, which worked perfectly for spending the whole day by the sea. Following the hotel's recommendation, we booked the C2 Full Day Santorini Volcano & Oia Sunset Tour (Caldera & Oia Sunset) with Kamari Tours, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We really appreciated the staff's local recommendations. The rooms are modern, well renovated, and very comfortable. With air conditioner. The mattress and pillows were excellent, and we also enjoyed having our own balcony. The only small downside was that the rooms are not completely soundproof, so in the mornings we could occasionally hear people leaving their rooms and doors closing.

Beautiful little hotel like bnb

The location is very close to Kamari beach The staffs were very helpful and super nice, giving us lots of info about spending time in Santorini. We arrived at midnight and before we arrive, Epilda gave us video instruction how to get to our room. Room was nice and clean. Nothing really specific. We found only small thing like the remote control for tv has problem, but probably it was just battery. Everything was perfect

The pool and breakfast

We went this place after 10 years for our anniversary. The people are amazing as before. Everything was perfect. Very close to the beach, many restaurants around. Very touristy place, but if you want peace, you can relax in the hotel yard. We’ll go back for sure. Thank you everyone from the Canadian couple. ?

We were treated to a nice delicious breakfast including pastries and fruit that varied daily, coffee, tea, a variety of different milk options. The bar/kitchen service was available throughout the day. Staff, some of them might have been the owners, were exceptionally helpful and nice, we felt like among friends. We had to go to a local hospital in the middle of the night, and the guy at reception was so nice to not only call taxi for us and explain everything to the driver, but also to make sure we have all the necessary information to get back to the hotel. Some customers seemed to be returning year after year which tells a lot about the vibe at this hotel. I would definitely go back. Tip for those with a sweet tooth: try Erotokritos bakery. It's about 10 min walk from the hotel, but their baklava is one of the best I've tried, and I'm a big fan :) There are smoothies, ice cream and lunch options available as well. The best dinner outside the hotel was at Fistikies nearby the bakery, reservation might be needed.

Breakfast choices are excellent, and a very good coffee machine.

Great location, nice breakfasts, lovely chilled pool area with a good size pool. The barman Adonis was really friendly and helpful. The layout of the 2 bedroomed apartment was a little strange but it had a really nice balcony which was quite private due to being surrounded with plants and trees. The sun beds were very comfortable but needed a good clean.

We’ve been satisfied with everything: location, breakfast, room. Maybe the kitchenware could be renewed, it’s already very old and for example glasses are missing (however we could get it easily asking at reception)

Exceptional

Lovely friendly hotel which we booked at the last minute as our ferry to Folegandros was cancelled. Right in the centre of town but very quiet. Great pool area and the breakfast selection was excellent Nothing

The staff are lovely. Nothing too much trouble. The location is perfect for all the amenities and 2 minutes walk to the beach. Lovely gardens and beautiful pool area.. an oasis of calm in the middle of Kamari. The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere. The perfect retreat! There’s absolutely nothing we dislike about the Hotel Hippocampus. We stayed last summer 2 weeks. We stayed this summer 2 weeks and we will stay next summer 2 weeks! Enough said?

It was a lovely pretty hotel very central to everything , staff were lovely , always ready to help would rec this hotel if ever going to Santorini Nothing

Great location, 2mins walk to the beach and 5mins walk to the bus stop. Good supermarkets and restaurants literally on the doorstep. Small, clean hotel with friendly and responsive hosts, especially Barbara who was a great help! Nice facilities and enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Comfortable beds, AC, kettle available on request, full mirrorred wardrobe and balcony. Would definitely stay here again.
