Potala Guest House is a great find. It’s in Thamel and close to all shops. It’s a real hotel, but you have to pay a little bit more over basic to get a good room. The restaurant is really good and food is delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms on the street side are noisy.

The guesthouse was right in the middle of the tourist district, and within easy walking distance of everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to leave extra bags at the guesthouse while we were on a 2 1/2 week trek (free of charge). Our first night was extremely noisy, as it turned out that our room overlooked a very busy street. The staff were very accommodating in finding us a new room the next day, and the (modest) ncrease in price was really worth it for some good sleep.

I booked by using of Booking.com apps. I didn’t get the room which I booked. I was there for only 1hour and I left. I paid for my room and tell them to provide me check out documentation they behave bad to me. Then one of the manager said their system is down so they will send me check out documents by WhatsApp or email and I didn’t get yet. Front view is just nasty not like that. Seems so clean but it’s just a waste of money. I have paid for 1day 60$ and they said no refund possible I said I will speak booking.com. I booked by using of Booking.com apps. Namaste, nice room, nice view from rooftop, very friendly and helpful staff, always going the extra mile, good food, safe storage, had a great breakfast on new years day. Thank you:) I stayed there for 11 days, before and after the Mount Everest base camp track. I booked my flight to Lukla on the Hotel Entry, too.

I stayed here more than 30 years ago, before the earthquake and when I looked it up online I was delighted that it was still there. I always remembered that it was a nice place - a bit better than some of the cheaper lodges/hotels, and because I was familar with it, I booked for my daughter and I, who I was meeting there. The photos looked great and we were not disappointed. Maybe, due to the new building work that had went on, the hotel had been upgraded and in great condition. We extended our stay for an extra day and will be staying there at the end of our holiday again. The staff are lovely, very helpful and speak good English, which made every transaction and enquiry fluid. I highly recommend The Potala Guest House. We liked everything.

Exceptional value with delightful staff. The restaurant is a hidden gem with high-class Asian and Western food at very fair prices. The Flat White coffee is authentic, just like its and my original home: Wellington NZ! Really nothing.

The staff is incredible, and I felt very safe. They weee always helpful and friendly. The madras was a little dirty, but the linen and the cleaning was perfect.
