self catering - large kitchen with doubled up facilities. i.e. toaster,kettle, oven. separate large room with plenty seating/tables and couch /t/v supermarkets nearby. bunk bed- lower berth too low to sit up to read - however bed comfortable to sleep in. leak from washbasin tap - which we forgot to mention. We used towel to absorb water.

Fine, clean room in a well maintained hotel on the outskirts of Kirkwall in the heart of the Orkneys Good two bunk beds in a spacy clean room, with a fridge and clean toilet and shower inside Well equipped kitchen is on the 1st floor, quite far from our room, but otherwise OK

A simple but effective hotel/hostel on the edge of town. The centre of Kirkwall can be reached along a nice little pedestrian path in less than ten minutes. It's quiet and clean, if not exactly charming. The check-in process is entirely digital (you enter a code to get into the building, then another to get into the room) and that all worked great.

I booked this at last minute due to having no where to go as my other place was suitable. The owner was very helpful and caring making sure I got in as it was very late at night
