Disappointing

Central location. Cool bar Hostel seems like a bit of an afterthought. Some rooms don’t have windows

Great location and even better value for money. good vibe at the bar and cheap drinks. Would recommend if you’re in Kota Kinabalu on a budget. Could have done with being a touch cleaner in the room. But the beds and towels were fresh which is the main thing.

The property is really conveniently located. It’s a cheap Grab from the airport, walking distance to the night market, near many shops and restaurants, and so close to the bus station! Breakfast is basic but good. Staff are helpful. Air con in the room worked well. The room and facilities were fine, I think it would be better for a group rather than a solo traveller personally My room could have been cleaner on arrival- there was hair on the floor from a previous guest, footprint marks on the bathroom floor and the walls are stained with damp. I am a solo traveller from the UK and there were no other solo travellers when I stayed, it was mainly locals. I actually met someone when getting my nails done who had lived there when she first moved to the city- so maybe a base for locals more than a hostel with other travellers from abroad- not a problem but might be useful info for anyone hoping to meet other backpackers :) Some areas for improvement which would be great: -keeping the water filter somewhere cool- it was so hot in the room it was in that the water often felt like it had recently been boiled -quiet hours in the hostel- guests are allowed to use the “work space” whenever it suits them. During my stay someone was making really loud phone calls for several hours, from 8:30pm - 11:30pm, right by my room, which hostel staff said is okay as people can use the work space as they wish. The following night karaoke went on until 12:40am. It would be great to have a rule like work space closes at 11pm. In general maybe not somewhere to stay if you want an early night -it would be great to have some recommendations or hostel activities, e.g., local restaurants which are good, local day trip suggestions, or a group hostel trip to the night market, for example. It felt more like a bar with some rooms upstairs than a hostel, and as a solo traveller I had to rely on google to find things to do. Staff were helpful when I asked questions, but I didn’t want to keep bothering them!

Free breakfast (tea/coffee & toast), location. Comfy bed. As noted by many other hairs on the floor. We had no water in our bathroom on our last day, which meant we had to check out without a shower (or discount) after a full activity day. We were first told they were waiting on a plumber and the next day that it was an area issue - who knows..

Friendly staff Not clean, rooms really need an update. Noisy music from surrounding places & walls are paper thin.

Water pressure was low during my stay. Was hoping to take a good shower, ended up having to wash my hair using the bidet.
