Cathayana Hotel Kuantan

The breakfast food was bland. they had options but could improve on the taste. Breakfast area is at the hotel lobby, which i find it not comfortable as it is an open space and it was hot. Aircond was not functioning or nit sufficient to cater the area.

Shower ? need to be more flexible instead install on the celling.

The bed is comfy. The room also provided prayer mat and accurate qiblah signage at ceiling. The aircond also super cold and love it. The bathroom is clean and nice hot shower. Would be nicer if provide hair dryer as well - The TV is quite old not so clear to watch. - its very funny that mini refrigerator is in the bathroom. - Rotten floor - only single key card provided, its very difficult when stay with more than 1 person with only have single room card. - The lobby is not well furnished and decorated made looks abandoned office workspace. - breakfast would be nice if provide toaster for breads. Not so good with the cheap sausage, no cereals breakfast. - Noise pollution at night where all JDM cars ramming at the street and loud bang & exhaust.

Comfortable

There is water damage on the walls in the hallway, mould on the bathroom tiles. Cracked sink. My bathroom also had a sewage smell my first day - it wasn’t so strong that it came into the room but could smell it whenever I stepped inside, it appeared/disappeared over my stay. Could connect to hotel wifi but there was no internet. The night I arrived it was a problem and the morning after I did call reception to tell them about this problem but there was no fix, had to use my hotspot for the whole of my stay for four days three nights. I tried to connect everyday. Mattress is firm. Pillows are flat. As others said, the room is pretty dark at night - it would be difficult for you to study or work. There’s no table lamp and four dim/orange lights in each corner. Noise wise - our rooms on the 7th floor (there’s only two more floors above us) they were facing the main road and on a Saturday night, could hear motorbikes revving/speeding up and down. I’m a fairly deep sleeper so it was okay for me once I fell asleep around 11pm but for my friend it went on until 2am. Every night we were there you can hear the traffic (Sunday and Monday too) but it was busiest on the weekend. I did ask the hotel in advance for a quiet room not facing the main road and they said they would take note - don’t know if that was the best they could do or if they forgot. Also everytime someone along the hotel corridor opens their door - an alarm sounds until they close their door. For work/study purposes I’m not sure if I would stay here again. Breakfast is okay. Had variety, Malaysian staples. Parking wasn’t a problem when we arrived but we also didn’t leave the hotel much. Check in was easy. Room is very spacious and clean. Towel was stained but they brought me a new set. Water is quick to heat up and good water pressure - but my friend’s room had barely any hot water even with the tap turned all the way and the water heater switched on.

Nothing good. Everything below my expectations. The car park entry is bad. My car lips broken because of it. Breakfast is not a hotel level. Room is not good. No brush while the description mentioned toiletries prepared. Receptionist unfriendly and work very slow.

Friendly staffs The room is not bright enough. Rather dark. Not providing enough floor mat/towel in the washroom. Although the room is big in space but empty.

The breakfast looks underwhelming but actually really good and delicious with so many options ; pulut kuning rendang ayam bihun goreng singapore grilled sausage roasted potato baked beans scrambled eggs bread section to make toast porridge table proper noodle station with cooking stove fresh salad and cut fruits orange juice, warm and iced water, coffee and tea The room was also very big like you can fit extra two beds.

Location and the size of the room. Too empty... Cupboard located in the toilet(?).

Big room and relatively clean. AC is adequate and sufficiently cold. Bathroom is huge and pressure is strong. Shower only comes with rain shower. No hand shower so adjusting the temperature is difficult. While shower caps are provided, taking a shower without washing hair is troublesome. Room is clean but the corridors are really in bad condition with peeling laminated floor and wallpaper. Parking is a nightmare are they try to squeeze in as many parking lots as possible. The entrance ramp is very steep and when exiting, it can be very dangerous as you have to use the entrance lane in order to make the sharp left U-turn to exit the hotel.

Location Room is looking a bit 'tired'. Door knob to the bathroom was faulty, corridors were dim, pillows were flat, towels were a shade darker than white. WIFi was too weak, basically it was non existent. The hotel needs to spruce up its rooms and facilities back to how it was before.
