About Balmacara Hotel
On the shores of Loch Alsh, Balmacara Hotel is just a 5-minute drive from Kyle of Lochalsh, the main crossing point to the Isle of Skye. Regular live traditional music is featured in the on-site pub, and free private parking is also available. A private bathroom, TV and tea/coffee-making facilities are included in each Balmacara room, and most enjoy scenic views out over Loch Alsh towards the Isle of Skye. Contemporary themed rooms are offered, and some are furnished with Victorian antiques. Guests can savor views of the Loch as they enjoy their meals. Specialties include local seafood and game, and a full English breakfast is served in the 1930s-style coffee lounge. Eilean Donan Castle is less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and the outer islands of Lewis, Harris or Uist can be visited in a single day.

Nice receptionist. Cramped room.
-
Lovely situation on the banks of Loch Alsh, with a view over to Skye. Our room (No 2) was fabulous, very comfortable bed, lovely hot shower and very fluffy towels. Everywhere in the hotel was very clean. No complaints about dinner or breakfast.
-
Parking Room 102 was extremely small, too noisy from the bar below and we could smell kitchen preparing meals.

Comfortable bed and lovely bedding Nowhere to dry towels. Twice promised to send someone to the room to help with the heating. No one turned up. High price didn’t include breakfast. No telephone to ring reception

Dining room outlook was amazing - looking over the seascape. Breakfast was satisfactory. Room was clean and well presented. Parking was available. Room was upstairs, there was no lift and there was no assistance with luggage. Bar and meal purchases could not be charged to room and paid on checkout

Nice room. Dinner and breakfast was excellent.

It was a in a beautiful Location. Hotel was lovely and fresh. Staff were also lovely. The upstairs bedrooms should be carpeted. Could hear footsteps and chairs being moved till very late in the evening. Early morning the same noise woke me from a comfortable sleep. This is the only fault I can offer.

We were given one of the new rooms constructed on the ground floor The way down was like a building site and the sound proofing in the room was poor, I could hear every movement above me

The bathroom is so good, the breakfast is nice and the location is pretty. One of my room have a bad smell that come from the kitchen, it is distracting my resting time and it is impossible to remove the smell.

Breakfast and dinner were good. The room was nice and of a good size. Had a sideways view of the water which was nice. All in all nice stay and nice property. The service in the dining room could've been more attentive as far as table checks and inquiring whether drinks were needed.

Great location and the facility. Location

Location was lovely. Room was small but comfortable. Food was great. Staff were generally lovely. Great parking. Maître de was a bit stressed when arriving at dinner but I think that was a low staffing situation at that time. Forts was great and the service was great. Had a lovely coffee at dinner but no barista at breakfast so machine coffee which was a bit strong for me. Otherwise all great. These are minor details.
