I adored this hotel and experience. The rooms were delightful, the beds very comfortable, the service impeccable. The roof top for drinks and snacks was a huge bonus. I loved how quiet and serene the neighborhood was yet so close to walk to many things. The staff here, especially Shin and Eri were over the top accommodating.

Genji Kyoto is wonderful! Our river view room with a private deck was gorgeous, the included breakfast was delicious, the staff were all so helpful and the location worked for us. We really loved that it was away from the hectic craziness and it was easy to still get around by walking, biking (bikes for use at the hotel) and via taxi for far away spots. I am so glad we stayed here instead of at the larger more "central" michelin property I had considered. This unique boutique hotel offered incredible beauty and lovely touches throughout. If you stay, consider taking the bikes along the river path. We rode to the Kyoto National Garden and it was a nice changeup from the typical tourist spots. nothing

The location was great and the property was clean. The rooms were extremely small. We had trouble storing two bags in addition to having two people in the room. The staff were a bit unresponsive when I emailed for things like help with restaurant reservations. However, they were friendly and the location is great. It's just extremely expensive for what you get.

The hotel is not the middle of busy area - you have to walk about 15 minutes. Pro tip - if you order a breakfast order one for each person. Hotel stuff told us that one order for two people is more than enough - so maybe we were just hungry and it's not an American size of dish. Anyway it's great place to stay Nothing

We stayed at Genji on our honeymoon and it was our absolute favorite place we stayed. Beautiful hotel all around! A balance of aesthetics and functionality as well as a mix of Japanese and western design. The staff was amazing - very welcoming and attentive. One thing that stood out to me is that I bought a little toy cat from a gacha machine and had it sitting out on the counter. The next morning at breakfast, the kitchen staff had added foam art to my cappuccino depicting the cat. I found so sweet and such a great representation of the attention to detail and thoughtfulness. This is not a negative but just a note: the location is a bit further from the main areas on most tourist itineraries (Pontocho Alley, Gion, etc.) but has great subway connectivity to those areas. Also this is a great location if you plan to take day trips out of Kyoto station. The hotel is right on the river in a quiet neighborhood with local charm. One thing we loved is the sento Umeya just a couple minutes walk away. Nothing!

Breakfast in the room was incredible. But the layout of the space was surprisingly modern and traditional at the same time. I really loved the Quadruple Room. Its a gem.

Genji kyoto rooms and customer service was above and beyond. They helped us with our dinner bookings as well. We will definitely come back. It was not on the main road, but little walk only is needed.

Perfect location near the 五条 x 鴨川 Parking super easy, Yen1100 in 2025 for 24 hours nearby Walking to everything easy like 三条，清水寺，Takashimaya, 鴨川 River view room.. sunrise in the room or balcany.. Great wild life around Driving there in the streets need to be careful. Don't drive a large car
