The staff was very helpful. In particular Zixian went above and beyond to assist us throughout our stay. We really appreciated him. The pillows.

Our room was quiet, clean, and in a good location. Check in was easy, and the front desk staff was helpful. Really grateful for the freely provided toiletries! Nothing.

Location, cleanliness, friendly staff and had traditional look to it. No good breakfast options nearby. Those restaurants that did offer breakfast, had long waits.

For the price, the room was very, very small, and the beds definitely could use an upgrade. Not comfortable.

I loved the location and the bathtube, perfect to rest my feet. The bed was super confortable. It was a little bit loud. You could hear every time someone walked outside the room.

Helpful staff Room was small but that's normal for japan

The location in old Kyoto is excellent for walking in Gion District and Higashiyma neighborhood, going to temples, and easy walking access to across the river for other attractions. The Gion-Shijo subway stop (Keihana LIne) is very close, maybe 5 minute walk. Quiet at night. Occasionally we heard street conversations since we faced the street. Many, many shrines and temples surrounding the hotel. Very good restaurants nearby. Front desk staff was very helpful even with the language barrier and translation apps helped quite a bit. Since we were there 7 days, having a washer/dryer before our next leg of the trip was very nice. We also had a few questions before we arrived, and their responses were always accurate, helpful and quick. Bathroom is way too small for a 6'6" guy. Accessing two suitcases in a tiny room is mildly annoying. The toilet flapper and float kept on breaking but we were able to make it work for the days we were there. The hotel staff did try but it just broke again. The next problem does NOT belong to the hotel. We made reservations with a deposit at two separate restaurants. Each time we arrive 5 minutes early, and then we were told "our reservation was, with regret, being declined." The sad explanation from some Japanese friends had to do with the fact that some restaurants don't want to deal with customers who don't speak Japanese. So our advice is to check with the front desk of the hotel to see if they can help in advance and make a call before you waste your time walking there.

The location is awesome, within walking distance to most visited temples, Gion, Pontocho alley, Imperial Palace and transportation to all others farther away. The staff is very kind and helpful. No space for toiletries or for luggage out of the way, but this has been the case for most hotels in Japan.

Location was great. Yang at front desk was very helpful and nice. Room was very clean and nicely decorated.
-
great location I got pretty sick while I was staying here. Symptoms would worsen when I was in the hotel room. I noticed mold on the shower curtains which could’ve been the reason
-
cannot beat the location and the staff is fabulous. beds were so small (i'm 90 lbs and my husband is 120 &6' tall -we're tiny) we couldn't fit on one twin bed comfortably so had to sleep on separate beds. but that's fine.

Everything was perfect. Location, cleaning and especially staff they were really helpfull and nice. Nothing
-
Bathroom had poor ventilation so the room also would become uncomfortable, potentially because it was older

Best location in Kyoto, worth it A bit on the pricey side

Really nice location and comfy place in Gion Washing machine has not detergent, which is okay but in my experience in similar hotels they do. Used normal key not keycard and the replacement fee is 10,000 yen.
