UNKNOWN KYOTO

I arrived around 2:30pm and check in time is 4pm but since the room was available, the staff checked me in and let me into my room which was much appreciated after the red eye flight. The facility was clean, cozy and had all the things I needed. I bought myself a pair of affordable slippers at the reception for my stay. The room came with towels, ear plugs, desk, lamp, mirror, bed side table with remote controls for the AC and the lights, etc. During my stay, I rarely heard my neighbors even though my room was across from the sink and bathroom. Everyone was respectful and quiet when I saw any. There's always someone working in the workspace downstairs so I felt safe going and coming at night. The area was beautiful and quiet, really near the stream with the beautiful walkway and very few people since it's not the north area which had more tourists. There are a lot of bike docks in the area to choose from so I biked a lot. There's also a train stop nearby. I loved this hotel and will be coming back. Nothing

Coolest spot I stayed in Japan. Loved the historical aspect of the building and area. Had a 24hr organic grocery store a 5 min walk away. Restaurant next door was nice. Staff were very helpful There were several flies in my room. When I notified staff they helped immediately

The owner (or what I think she was) was soo sweet and seem really caring about the place. The Hostel is a very typical old japanese building not the oldest one but it kinda as that vibe, as like "if you walk on the wood planks you will do noise", the bed is kind like a small room so you could store your luggage and there is even a little table, 100% this is one of the best beds of my entire trip! The common room is a amazing and I really love the fact that it had so much options as tables! Its not the best community hostels ever if you go seeking that ones but you could still make some friends if you want! + I really love the overall building and the sinks were kinda pretty The position is not one of the best best ever but it still pretty good, is not like far from buses maybe like 7min of walk from them. They had laudry for 200yen (with free soap!) and a dryer for 100yen (If I dont remember wrong), for the laudry everything went well but for the dryer after probably 1000yen my clothes were still wet :(( (I would usually think that i'm unable to use those kind of machine but this time I swear I did everything right - coz I COULDN'T do wrong xd)

Everything was lovely and especially the staff, they were very gentle and helpful. Very good location with walkable distance from a lot of attractions, food restaurants and supermarkets. Absolutely reccomended!

I loved the beds very spacious and there is a little table built into the space that you can use which is amazing. The downstairs area was really cozy and there are tons of restaurants and places to eat nearby. There is even a grocery store around the corner for those who need it. Highly recommend!

The co-working space was great and the staff were very helpful. The shower was clean with body soap and shampoo available for free. The laundry machine was on the same floor and easy to use (200 yen for the washer, 100 yen for 30 min of the dryer), it only accepted 100 yen coins so take note of that. The mattress was so thin and uncomfortable. I slept in an upper bunk and the ladder was incredibly steep, so much so that I fell from the 3rd step when climbing down on my last day and hit my arm against the ladder and wall. There was also terrible ventilation in the room (it is an old building and that was noted during check-in) but there was a constant smell of body odor and that was with the window fully open for my entire stay. During stays at other hostels, they often had additional fans which I found helped with the smell and ventilation in the room but I didn't see any in the rooms at this hostel. There was also a large crack between the top bunk bed and the wall and unfortunately, I dropped a few items into the bed below by accident because of this crack (for example, a hat). There was a woman below me who was sick with a bad-sounding wet cough and it was difficult to fall asleep, knowing that there was a gap for her coughing to get through to me. As other reviews have noted, there is no elevator and only a steep staircase to get from the rooms to the ground floor.

Exceptional

A gorgeous old Japanese house that had been renovated. The shared room bed space was massive, each one having its own desk/hanging space. Good location and nice staff. The mattresses are incredibly thin. Due to the age of the house, noise travels quite easily but this is to be expected.

The character of the building, good location, the bed. Someone was in the community shower, on the other side od our wall, creating much noise til 1:39 a.m.

This is more suited for people looking for a quiet workcation. Perhaps this did not suit my needs as a solo traveller, to socialise with others. It’s small and also located in a very quiet area where there isn’t much activity. For those seeking something like that, it is an excellent option. The staff is also not always available at the desk. In fact, during my stay, I only briefly saw one staff member who checked me in, didn’t see anyone else after. Also the weather during my stay in Kyoto became very cold, and I did not find running hot water in the showers but there was no one to ask help from. Having said that, it’s a beautiful and comfortable property (my room was quite cosy). Special mention that they made it available before check in time.

The interior color set really beautiful! And the staff were all very kind and helpful! You might hear other people talking since it’s an old architecture but I think it still very worthy experience!

The beds were comfortable, and it was peaceful. Bathrooms were clean and maintained well. The building is a little old and corridors narrow. Downside is that the building has no elevator so be ready to carry the luggage up one set of stairs. The place to keep luggage was congested - you would end up blocking other people's movement if you want to take stuff out of the bag. The location is very close to subway and accessible to the city. They have Yamato services and stored by luggage 2 days prior to my arrival.
