This was a smallish family run hotel in the delightful small town of Escala. It was optimally placed between the old fishing village with its authentic maritime feel and the new more modern part of the developed town. This is a gorgeous place and very much on the up with high quality restaurants, upmarket accommodation and pristine, interesting coastline with areas for swimming, beach lolling, fishing and rockpool exploring. It is well suited to all ages but especially to outdoorsy types who are happy to park the car and walk. (Take the coast path to Empuries -gorgeous views and interesting Roman ruins) The hotel itself was delightful in a slightly faded and jaded way (think old French style "Logis") The public areas of the hotel have been really nicely modernised and are comfortable. Our room was fine - comfortable and clean but a bit shabby in parts (eg table needs replacing, cushions covers and curtains, washing) It had a fantastic view and a large balcony which gave an expansive open and bright aspect on the sea just metres away. It was far enough away from the main hub hub of town to be restful and peaceful even late at night at the weekend. The breakfast was good, varied and plentiful and served in the lovely restaurant overlooking the sea. Most importantly, the staff were all really nice - friendly, informative and caring. Traditional warm and solicitous Spanish hospitality. The restaurant was not open in the evening, despite the fact that the website stated that it would be. There is a takeaway pizza option as part of the downstairs, but on 'arrival night' we had planned to eat dinner in the hotel. There are only limited options within a short walk. The hotel has no lift and the stairs have quite steep risers. Advise only hand size luggage on the staircases - difficult with heavy full size cases for us fit but older people. These further comments are prefaced by the fact that they are largely out of the hotels' control but are useful info for bookers. Parking is very difficult all over Escala. It is a case of park and walk as even in March, 25 we had difficulty finding somewhere within 200 metres of the hotel. There are significant works to renovate the coastal strip taking place (and part of an ongoing programme to upgrade the whole of the resort) This means that the 'promenade' in front of the hotel and the path into the old town is a building site - not great. We would have liked to have been informed of this in advance by the hotel. Fortunately it was OK as there were only limited works over the weekend. Otherwise might not be ideal for late risers on holiday! BUT -probably only for another few months.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. We stayed in Rm108. First floor front. Very clean, comfortable and spacious with a fabulous sea view. Breakfast was fantastic and more than we could eat. We will definitely return. The only very minor negative is that the doors to each room allow some sound to pass through.

The spacious rooms, stunning seaside views, complemented by a lovely terrace where you can enjoy the soothing sounds of the sea and vibrant sunrises and sunsets. Conveniently located on the old town side, everything you need is within easy reach. The breakfast is simple yet satisfying, and the staff are warm and welcoming. Rooms and bathrooms might need an upgrade

The location and the view were perfect. And they serve very good breakfast! The building has its years, the room smelled a bit like tobacco, not because someone was smoking there, but because that smell stays for decades.

Seafront location with large room and small balcony providing seaview. Very friendly and helpful lady on reception desk. Nice dining room with adequate continental breakfast. No evening meal service available but able to eat at restaurant about 30 mins wakk away in L'Escala. No lift and fairly steep steps from street to entrance and from ground floor to first and second floors. Car parking limited to on-street parking and limited availability (even out of season, late October)

Good location and good air conditioning and brilliant breakfast. Room was very small and dark and had hairs in the bed and wasn’t cleaned properly as we found a can under the bed.
