Sonesta Simply Suites Irvine East Foothill

I have stayed here many, many times. It's my prefered hotel when in this area. In all the times I have stayed here (over 40) this is the first time I had an issue. The room had some weird smell to it. I can't put my finger on what the source of the smell was. Noticeable and not pleasant, but not bad enough to make me request a different room. I'm going to consider this an anomaly and book my next stay here.

The staff was kind and did refund my room, which I appreciated. However, I have repeatedly requested the written pest-control inspection report so I can understand what was found in the room and what may have caused the bites, and I have not received the report or a response to those requests. I typically do not leave negative reviews because I understand that isolated issues can happen. What has been most disappointing is the lack of transparency and follow-up, particularly because the bites caused ongoing issues and I needed the information for my own health and to determine what precautions I needed to take with my belongings. I do want to acknowledge that the staff members I interacted with were kind and courteous. My concern is with the lack of follow-through after the incident.

Super friendly staff, lots of places to eat nearby, good value for money. Not the fanciest in terms of amenities but gets the job done.

Also, I found it interesting that no cooking pans were supplied in the room; however,. I did manage to reserve the one and only frying pan available at the front desk. So, for a place that has a kitchen as a main feature, it was not cutting the butter for me...definitely a disappointment for us as it was the reason I selected Sonesta - to be able to cook and fix my healthy meals.

The kitchen really helped, although not enough kitchen appliances- you need to request them (if available). I would recommend to bring your own (like skillet, blender, tea kettle). The rest is great!

Very noce stay

We stayed there for a week and was told that we would not be getting any housekeeping service while we were there. If we wanted the sheets changed we needed to bring the dirty sheets to the front desk and they would give us clean sheets to put on our bed ourselves. Not what I expected to hear. I’m in the hospitality business and couldn’t imagine telling our guest that. Don’t try and check in early either unless you want to pay extra for it.

There were bed bugs that bit me

The only thing I would suggest is cleaning the bbq area a bit. Tough to use.

We arrived in our room at 4pm, and the a/c did not work , maintenance assisted but took a bit for the thermostat to get to work after swapping it out 2 times, by this time the room was warm as we were trying to get ready for an event which was frustrating for the time until we left. This did not take away how helpful the staff was during this time and efficient with the situation.

The property is in a good location close to shopping center, kind of hidden, quiet, and peaceful There was nothing about the property that I didn’t like it was perfect for me and my husband
