Lovely historic property. Room was lovely. A little tired but can’t complain. Evening meal was exceptional. Pool was great and really warm. Bit confusing as to where and how you get into the property. If it wasn’t for bumping into a staff member we were a little lost!!

Beautiful surroundings. Gorgeous room. Cute decor details. Amazing restaurant/breakfast. I wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful castle hotel. To our surprise, we were upgraded to a better room than the one we had booked, which made our stay even more special. We traveled with our dog, and everything was very pet-friendly with no issues at all. The breakfast was excellent, offering a great selection of fresh and delicious food. The hotel is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by forest and offering stunning views of nature. Staying in such a historic castle was a unique experience. Although there is no elevator due to the age of the building, the reception staff were always happy to help us with our luggage. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Excellent breakfast... beautiful grounds and wonderful, large swimming pool. Very helpful staff... nothing too much trouble... we had four nights there and came home totally releaxed and refreshed! Un "grand merci" to all at Domaine du Biar. At breakfast, not everthing was avaliable if one was near the end of service, timing-wise. Staff clearing up around us and laying the tables for lunch made us feel under pressure to finish before we were ready to. The lunch and dinner menu was a menu where there was no choice and it takes a long time to get through it - but it was delicious. For hotel guests not wishing to eat in that way every meal there are no other options. It would have been good if there was an option to have a salad or an omelette to keep oneself going. We ended up going to a spuerpmarket to buy our own food or eat out somewhere else.

Just a few km out of Montpelier it was probably our top accommodation of our trip in Southern France. A magnificent chateau surrounded by idyllic landscapes with horses giving an extra touch. Comfortable room and gentle personnel. We had the pleasure enjoying our own bottle of wine and although we have not made a reservation for the restaurant, they have prepared for us exceptionally 2 charcuterie and cheese boards. If you are in paradise there is no reason for complaints.

Breakfast was excellent, restaurant area impressive and staff superb. Property was brilliant. Quite intrusive road noise relaxing in the garden. Would have liked a TV in the room

The location , the estate , the property It's not normal that at 7 p.m. there's a bucket of dirty water and a broom lying around on the floor outside my room, that one morning they forgot to put coffee capsules in the room, and a multitude of other small details that show a lack of organisation, even thought the staff is friendly

    Very good

I had to pay 32 euro the next morning, which is 3 euro tourist tax and the 29 euro was unclear.

Dog friendly, lovely grounds, comfy bed. Restaurant menu - lack of choice Poor breakfast Service was a struggle - had to ask for everything nothing was offered. Staff pre occupied ironing table cloths!

the ground is beautiful and the manager(Ben for us) was very helpful. We asked for a yoga mat and he even brought his wife’s mat to lend it to us the next day. We were very grateful. The reception was very apologetic about the unavailability of hot water throughout our stay. Out of the 4 nights, we did not have hot water for 3 nights. It was icy cold water coming out from the tap. According to the staff, this is a problem the owner had known for a long time and ignored. Everytime we followed up, we were told there will be some “commercial adjustments” (which I understood to be compensation) with the impression that hot water will come soon. The commercial adjustment turns out to be just a comp dinner of our first night of 89€ (that’s about 6% of what we paid). I got sick on the 3rd night shivering and having cold sweat in my sleep from the icy cold shower on the first night we arrive. That ruined my holiday because I had plans to do so many things that I had to cancel because I didn’t want to get dirty and not be able to shower. So we ended up just stayed in the room or just engaged in minimal activities, far short of all the plans we originally had. By the last day when the warm water came back, I had developed pneumonia and couldn’t do anything. It was disappointing the hotel owner did not provide alternative solution with hot water situation as this is a basic. Not having a solution and expecting the guest to “live with it” is unacceptable no matter how nice looking your property is. The compensation of a meal does not nearly qualify as a proper damage recovery. Whilst I understand making money is important. There should be some proper human decency to put the health and safety of your guest first - especially according to the staff has previously informed the owner multiple times of this issue. I had booked this place based on recommendations, I think my next emails would be to Michelin Guide and Telegraph editorial dept to get them to seriously reevaluate their recommendations so as not to mislead readers.

The positives are - the ground is beautiful and the manager(Ben for us) was very helpful. We asked for a yoga mat and he even brought his wife’s mat to lend it to us the next day. We were very grateful and so the 2 stars here go entirely to him alone. I booked 4 nights stay with this hotel 6 months in advance after reading the recommendation on Michelin Guide and The Telegraph. This stay was meant to be the highlight of my trip flying from Singapore to Barcelona and driving here. What a huge disappointment. I have never stayed in anywhere without hot water for guest in winter! Out of the 4 nights, we did not have hot water for the first 3 nights. It was icy cold water coming out from the tap. We were told there’s a problem they are looking into but couldn’t fixed. Everytime we followed up, we were told there will be some “commercial adjustments” (which I understood to be compensation) with the impression that hot water will come soon. The commercial adjustment turns out to be just a comp dinner of our first night of 89€ (that’s about 6% of what we paid). I got sick on the 3rd night shivering and having cold sweat in my sleep from the icy cold shower on the first night we arrived. The comments as written by others about the lack of cleanliness by the house keeping turns out to be quite true. Not having a solution on hot water and expecting the guest to “live with it” is unacceptable no matter how nice looking your property is. The compensation of a meal does not nearly qualify as a proper damage recovery. Which part of a guest telling you he caught pneumonia from your failure to provide proper hot water is not important? Whilst I understand making money is important to run a place like this. There should be some proper human decency to put the health and safety of your guest first - especially when the staff already warned the owner multiple times of the hot water problem. I think my next emails would be to Michelin Guide and Telegraph editorial dept to get them to reevaluate their assessment so as not to mislead readers.
