Fundana Villas

Positives first. On arrival at Fundana villas, we were pleased to see a truly beautiful, old building, and the scenery around it was breathtaking. This was a very good start. We liked its location, and were not disappointed by much at all. At first. Unfortunately, there are a lot of downsides to this place and it's important to know what they are. For clarity, we rented two self-catering apartments for this holiday. One two bed apt for myself, my partner, and our daughter, and a separate one bed apt for my mum. If you'd like to know what apartment you're getting, I suggest you contact the property because the photos are not necessarily what you'll get - albeit, ours were in the style of. Access - the info states accessible, so we did not check. Both our apartments were up either extremely steep indoor steps, or rocky and unstable outside steps. If you need easy access (as my mum did), this place isn't for you. Especially considering the pool is also accessed by rocky/uneven steps Our rooms: In general, they were nicely decorated, but dark. Bedrooms - bedrooms were large and reasonably spacious. However, they are also in need of TLC and dark. Beds were very comfy. TV - tiny and old, with barely any channels, and what there is is mostly European. I found one English station. Kitchen - the kitchen area is woefully underequipped, with minimal bendy cutlery, very few pans, non existent cooker and microwave (despite the site saying there were both) and a small two plate hob. There is also no workspace, so preparing anything is difficult. Lounge area - there wasn't any. This was our main problem. The site and listings suggested there was by stating a comfortable sofa and showing certain images at certain angles. So let me be clear, there was simply a bench in the kitchenette area around a table in our apartment, and not even that in my mums.. It wasn't comfortable. I am an early bird, and all other people with me like to lie in, so when I woke the only place I had to go to was the kitchen bench. I couldn't even use the balconies (I use that term loosely), because they were both off the bedrooms. This wasn't a space for families.

absolutely beautiful location, very peaceful and surrounded by the sounds of birds, frogs and crickets etc. very rustic accommodation, don't expect boutique style hotel. The hotel is mainly from converted older / historic buildings which gives it a kind of charm. it's a very old site with much history, it would be unfair to expect modern hotel facilities, however there is some room for improvement with the facilities notably the drains and showers. There is a high level of calcium in the water that blocks the little holes in the shower heads. certain area's look a little tired but as I mentioned it's a very old site. never the less, the hosts are extremely accommodating and friendly, we had a lovely time.

The hotel is in an ancient style in a quiet area surrounded by olive groves with a lovely view. Alex was very helpful and happy to help with everything we asked for, including suggestions for places to visit. Our room was very clean and tidy with a huge bed, and a kitchenette that allowed us to prepare our own breakfasts. On Wednesdays the hotel offers dinner with delicious traditional food. The atmosphere in the hotel is very pleasant and calm, and we will happily return to stay there. The only thing that bothered us was that there was no internet in the room but Alex promised that during the winter he would install wifi in all the rooms.

Beautiful, quiet location with fantastic views across the local countryside. We had a lovely apartment with space for the whole family. We spent lots of time in the wonderful pool. The pool bar also had delicious, fresh, organic salads and fruit juices which we really enjoyed. The toilet in our bathroom was unreliable and sometimes did not flush.

The location was great. The staff was kind. Breakfast was good but too expensive for Corfu. The toilet was dripping throughout the nights we had trouble sleeping. There were ants in the kitchen. And even though we got a bed to put in the kitchen this villa is not suitable for 4 adults. In addition it is important to understand that the pictures are depicting all the rooms on the villa and not clear enough which of these pictures are showing the room you will get. We were staying in the room near the reception. Booking offered it for 4 adults it is actually for two. Maximum of you have two small kids. However definitely not for 4 adults. If the hotel would fix the toilet, this room for two can be great in a great location.

We had the room 14 which is the more expensive but modern, well equipped unit in a larger complex (few other apartments by the same owner) with nice large living room / kitchen. I liked the privacy and space we had. Amazing views on the mountains, the only accommodation in the area. There is private pool with this unit, but it wasn't working. But there was common pool for all guests, that was very nice.

We loved the history of the building and the setting, quiet, unassuming and timeless, yet with good access to the local area, including Liapades and Paleokastritsa, and wider to Corfu Town. Room was very comfortable with kitchen area, balcony with great views over the valley and modernised in keeping with the building. Grounds and pool were lovely. Spyros was very helpful and friendly, assisting with any queries. Would love to come again. Our room had a hob but no microwave or oven, so although this was fine for us as didn’t cook, may not suit others.
