Calm & very quiet Shame it is a such remote place

This is a lovely house in the countryside. The room is spacious and includes a bathtub. It's a great place for walks in the woods. Breakfast was great. It wasn't a huge buffet, but there was plenty of local cheese, ham, pastries, and other delicious foods. Very peaceful. It rained on the second night, which likely attracted some critters to the roof or the area around it. It was a little cold on the second night, but we didn't ask anyone about it, so we can't complain :) The duvet was warm and cozy.

I realise it's off-season and everything is closed, that's why I booked something with a kitchen. Maybe just close for winter if you can't accommodate what you advertise.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at La Forge De Labbaye, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled in a picturesque location, this charming hotel exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the warm and welcoming staff made me feel right at home. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were always ready to assist with any inquiries or needs. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the comfortable bedding to the thoughtfully provided amenities. I especially loved the serene view from my window, which added to the peaceful ambiance of the stay. -

A pleasant property in a quiet, peaceful part of the countryside. My room was a good sized double with an en suite bathroom (with a bath), and separate toilet. The Wi-Fi signal was good and the Smart TV meant I could access my UK subscriptions (YouTube, Netflix etc.) and watch English-speaking TV in the evening which is good for a solo traveller. There was private off road parking at the front of the property.

Good location and cleanles. Inconsistent breakfast. Not to many things to chose.

A nice cheery welcome, a spacious room , separate toilet and shower, nice and clean, comfortable bed. It was nice and quiet so we slept very well. We were given a choice of either having breakfast at the Forge or at the Chateau, a few minutes walk away. We chose to walk to the Chateau, and we were glad we did, it is a lovely building, the breakfast room had marble fireplaces and lots of character. There was a lot of choice for breakfast, savoury and sweet, pastries, baguettes, eggs. the staff were kind and helpful. Just one tiny point...the room is in the attic space, which means it had Velux windows in the roof, but you still have a view. It would have been useful to have explained the operation of the electric blind system they had in place. It took us a while to work it out, unfortunately one of the blinds was not functioning during our stay which meant we had to put a blanket up at the window in order to keep out the morning light.

We did not stay at La Forge de l’Abbaye but were transferred the day before to the chateau de la motte nearby.

We loved our stay at La Forge … other than our arrival! We were greeted by a notice in French (unsurprisingly!) that gave two phone numbers to call if no one was there. Unfortunately, neither gave anything more than a recorded message (in French), which we struggled to understand. We then tried to contact Booking.com but their system was wholly inadequate and we were unable to speak to them! Reasonably quickly, the patron of Chateau de la Motte contacted us and then arrived with the keys. In the end, it worked well enough but it had been very stressful for quite a while! I think we should have been directed to the Chateau as soon as we arrived. This “criticism” has been very long and it must not overshadow the excellence of the cuisine at the Chateau, which we were pleased to enjoy. The room and other facilities at La Forge were also very good and excellent value for money. As already stated, the arrival needs to be dealt with better.

Everything was perfect; the location with nice walks to do around the lakes and in the forest, the beautiful room with separate toilet, very quiet, the breakfast at the castle the next morning…. Nice welcome from Franck who allowed us to put food in his fridge; he gave us good tips for visiting a local cheese farm and brewery. thanks !
