HÔTEL DE LA CITÉ ROYALE

It’s great value for money, if you are looking for a place to stay in Loire Valley. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable, AC is available and working well (it’s important during summer season). Staff is friendly and attentive. Pool is good to take rest from time to time. Although there’s a spa, restaurant and bar available most of the time, this hotel is located in the middle of the city and there’s no garden or forest around like in Chateau’s. Nevertheless the rest is great and we had a wonderful stay.

always a joy to stay at this lovely hotel! It's centrally located and easy to access. The decor and ambiance is wonderful and the staff, outstanding! Cannot think of any negatives for this property. Access via the stairs is difficult but the basement elevator entry is great. Always a joy!

We had to keep the window open to get the room cool enough for sleep.

The Hotel de la Cite Royale lived up to its name with a very grand location (tho' overlooking a carpark!) and provided lovely accommodation as would be expected. The royal city of Loches is well worth visiting and the location of this hotel and the level of accommodation make you feel as if you are one of 'the royals' on vacation there!!

The place was beautiful, luxurious, comfortable and historic! Wonderful breakfast! Enjoyed wondering in Loches!

Great hotel and great staff in Loches, they help me to change the date of my arrival, the staff is great and the hotel is the best in Loches Great hotel, everything was perfect

The location is outstanding, beautiful hotel, and the rooms are clean and I loved the look of them. The AC worked reasonably well and was very necessary! I found almost all the staff very friendly and helpful, particularly the lady who checked me in and worked so hard through the weekend. I also enjoyed the pool and steam room. Everything is walkable with a grocery store, boulangeries and restaurants nearby. The open market on Sunday was wonderful! And of course a short walk away is the Keep, church and lodge which are spectacular. I wasn’t sure why my room wasn’t cleaned for three days… I think they were understaffed for the holiday. It was not a big deal as I was by myself. As soon as I brought it up they quickly sent people up to clean the room.

The hotel was a very pleasant surprise - nicely appointed, great staff, and very comfortable room. The restaurant was mediocre and the service was very slow. I don't know if they had a specific staffing issue or if it was a regular occurrence, but it took much longer than expected to get any service for what appeared to be a fairly small number of patrons.

The hotel,is well located near the town, with good views of it from our room. Although an old building, it has been modernised beautifully. The room and bed were large and the bed was extremely comfortable. A separate toilet was good, and there is an excellent walk in shower in the bathroom. We had a balcony with two comfortable chairs, and was pleasant to sit there in the sunshine. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Nothing

Disappointing

Excellent location, beautiful building, very friendly and great facilities. Plus lovely restaurant.

It was pretty, clean, and comfortable I had high expectations for my stay, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing experience. The hammam, one of the main reasons I chose this location for the New Year’s holiday, was not functioning. This critical detail was not communicated during the booking process, nor was there a jacuzzi as stated on their page, leaving us feeling misled when we discovered the issue at check-in. To make matters worse, we were informed we would be charged in full if we decided to leave. The staff’s attitude compounded the frustration. They were unfriendly, lacked basic hospitality skills, and showed little interest in making our stay enjoyable. We had booked a New Year’s Day brunch, which they somehow canceled without notifying us. They rescheduled it from 11:30 to 1:30, which initially seemed accommodating, but we later learned the brunch ended at 2:00. What was supposed to be a leisurely celebration turned into a rushed and stressful experience. Communication throughout was poor, and there was no effort to address our concerns or provide any compensation for the numerous inconveniences. The staff seemed indifferent to making our stay special or taking steps to make up for their mistakes. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking relaxation, quality service, or a memorable holiday experience.
