it's quiet Felt very nickle and dime'd for the quality of this hotel. -In one of the rooms the wall of the living room did not go all the way up to the ceiling so bugs would get in. -Breakfast was $20 per person when it's normally free at nice hotels. -I asked our hotel to prepare some rice for us to give alms to the monks and it felt like they wouldn't do it unless I bought their package, they charged us $30 per person for rice and a car.

Nice heritage hotel. Great staff and service. Spa was superb! Bed was a bit saggy and not as comfortable as I wish. Air con for the room was a bit undersized and couldn't cool the room enough.

Staffs are wonderful to us, especially Noudny!!

My stay at the Sofitel Luang Prabang was an unforgettable experience marked by exceptional service and serene luxury. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring every detail of my visit was seamless and enjoyable. The room was beautifully designed, offering a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The hotel grounds were truly stunning—lush gardens, tranquil courtyards, and a gorgeous pool that provided a peaceful retreat. The concierge service was outstanding, thoughtfully arranging a tour for the Alms Giving, Morning Markets and Kiang Si Falls that allowed me to explore the charm of Luang Prabang with ease.

We traveled as a family of three to Luang Prabang. After reviewing many websites and reviews, we settled for Sofitel. It looks really good in pictures. Of course it raised our expectations. Until we arrived, I can only say "WOW". It not only look exactly like the photos but exceed them. It is really like an oasis in this charming city. Although it was slightly off the main attractions, but walkable distance, the advantage is it is really quiet from all the chaos and noises and you can really relax and just spend a day at the pool. I especially like the landscape within the courtyard. My daughter absolutely enjoyed the daily feeding and playing with the rabbits in the garden area. My dad liked to sit at the open restaurant and enjoy reading the news. I think all ages can find a lovely spot to enjoy. The stuff are very friendly and after five nights, we became friends! I especially want to thanks Te's team, Vard, Leng, Noudy, Yai for hosting and giving us valuable suggestions during our local itinerary planning. Also the restaurant team for catering all our special needs. I think the toilet door could be less heavy. My daughter who is 4 years old cannot open it by herself. Also the box which contains the tooth brush etc. could be smaller. Some electricity outlets do not work, for example on the bed head board for charing phones.

Everthing is perfect Less breakfast options

A wonderful historic hotel exceptionally well designed. The General Manager Andrew was always present and so helpful. The Spa is beautiful. The grounds well tended and beautiful. I cannot recommend this hotel enough It was perfect.
-
Historic building transformed into luxury stay, SUPER concierge service and common areas, rooms, and Spa. There are bunnies roaming around the garden, which adds to the magic. The restaurant is very meat oriented and not vegetarian friendly, as should be in a 5 star hotel.

The hotel look and feel, facilities and food were top notch.

Amazing staff. Great room and pool. Very good value for money The kitchen is good, but pricy, e.g. 15 usd for a Pho.

The staff were really helpful considering that the airport lost all of our luggage, they found us a driver to take us out to the town so we could buy some clothes. The chef made us a special Christmas vegan meal which we had in our garden at the back of our room. The hotel has free bikes which makes exploring the city very easy. The food was very expensive compared with the local restaurants. so we ate out a lot more than we had originally planned as the differences were stark. Next to the hotel spa, someone had a rave or loud music party and this ruined the spa experience, the hotel is surrounded by locals, they don't have control over what they do so not blaming the hotel just highlighting it can happen, as this isn't a remote location and the walls are not brick they are wood.

Wonderful food and friendly staff Room was a bit cold

Wonderful and sympathetically converted and preserved colonial compound, beautifully kept gardens, and lovely swimming pool. Very nice pool villa garden suite, comfortable bed and spacious room. Well located... perhaps 5 mins further from town on foot than would be ideal, but with a complementary shuttle car service to/from the night market area and/or sister 3 Nagas property. Some nice local cafes and small retailers in close proximity worth exploring if you don't want to go all the way into town. Generally very quiet and peaceful, but bear in mind the suites all back onto a developing residential area (immediately behind a 10ft wall which surrounds the compound) so there may well be general noise or even construction work taking place very nearby. We also had someone burning trash one night. Nothing the hotel can do about this but just something to be aware of if you're expecting utter tranquility. Overall a very enjoyable stay despite feedback comments below which I hope are just down to the disruption from Covid and getting everything not quite being back up to speed yet. Overall service experience wasn't at the level expected for 5* or the price charged. Some elements of maintenance were also not where they needed to be e.g. the decking in the garden area was on its last legs, and the bed frame was extremely creaky and clearly in need of nailing back together. Loads of staff (far outnumbering the guests) and all very friendly and trying hard to please so it pains me a bit to write this. But there was a real lack of coordination and communication which made breakfast and dinner service a bit comical / awkward. Constantly being asked the same thing by 2 or 3 staff, having knives and forks taken away just after someone replaced them, being awkwardly hovered over 15 seconds after being passed the menu, etc. It just kept happening. The staff themselves have the potential to be great but really just need some more training and proper supervision, and someone to take overall responsibility for outcomes rather than everyone “staying in their their lane” leading to things like finished drinks and room service plates being left to fester in the sun all day despite various staff passing them literally hundreds of times. We never saw any kind of supervisor doing rounds and the front of house staff (who were very good) are quite detached from the accommodation and restaurant due to the layout of the place.

The place, the staff, the service, everything was excellent! none!

Absolutely wonderful staff, excellent service, our room (heritage suite), beautiful gardens, great pool, good location- within easy walking distance to most attractions, good shuttle service. We were not impressed with the food. We had dinner there once and it was mediocre. Breakfast selection was ok
