Sunrise Beach and Spa

Location was right in front of the beach, enjoyed the sea view from my balcony, majority of staff were very pleasant and helpful Manager of the hotel Mr. Rifa was not helpful on a specific incident, he refused to allow having breakfast in the room, despite the fact that my wife was sick and unable to come to the restaurant, and I was willing to pay extra charges in order to allow my wife to eat in the room, but Mr. Rifa made it as a rule no food in the rooms, although I was talking about a simple breakfast consists of 2 boiled eggs and bread. Also there are installed televisions in the rooms but none work, just like the mosquito killers installed in few locations of the hotel for decoration only, none of them work, Mr. Rifa made it clear, hotel is not responsible to provide televisions or Mosquito killers that work.

Review for Sunrise Beach Hotel, Maafushi I stayed at Sunrise Beach Hotel Maafushi and overall had a mixed experience. The location is definitely a strong point—very close to the beach and main activity areas. We also appreciated being allowed to check in early at 10 AM, and the buggy pickup from the jetty was smooth and convenient. However, there are some areas that need improvement. The building has no elevator, which may be challenging for some guests, and the lobby/common areas are not air-conditioned, making them quite uncomfortable in the humidity. While our room was spacious with a nice view, it felt somewhat outdated and could benefit from better maintenance. Service was the main concern during our stay. We had an early morning snorkeling tour and requested a takeaway breakfast, as it was included in our booking. In Maafushi, this is generally a common and practical service since most excursions start early, and many other hotels provide this for guest convenience. Unfortunately, our request was declined without explanation or alternatives, which was disappointing. Additionally, housekeeping was not provided during our 4-day stay (no cleaning or towel changes), and interactions with staff felt limited and not very welcoming. The checkout experience could also be improved. We were ready at the scheduled time, but no reception staff were available, and we had to rely on the driver to assist us while we were concerned about making our transfer. Overall, while the location and early check-in were positives, improving service and guest experience would make a significant difference

The hotel was pretty good, friendly and welcoming staff, room was nice, location is good, a lot of choice for breakfast,it is close to the beach, the only thing I didn’t like was that next to the hotel now they’re building something and it was noisy at times

Sunrise Beach Hotel is located in Maafushi Island. I asked for their help in booking our ferry transfers to and from the airport, which really helped us save time and effort. The hotel is conveniently near Bikini Beach and a playground, which was a big plus for me. Every night, my toddler got to play with local kids and other guests, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The rooms are spacious, but I wasn’t a fan of the stairs—they felt a bit unsafe, especially with a child. There’s no elevator, so we had to take the stairs up to the 5th floor every day, which felt like a cardio workout. If you’re traveling with kids, just make sure to keep a close eye on them. Breakfast is served buffet-style starting at 7 AM, but I really appreciated that they prepared it earlier when I mentioned we had an early tour. The selection is good—I especially loved their pastries. Food is constantly replenished, and they rotate some dishes, which keeps it interesting. The stairs can be a bit tricky if you’re traveling with kids.

We had a great stay at this hotel! The location is perfect, right in front of the beach and just a short walk to Bikini Beach, which was super convenient. All the staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. The room was clean, and the bathroom had good water pressure, which we really appreciated. There is some construction around the hotel, but it didn’t bother us. The buffet breakfast had a good variety of choices. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant once, and it was amazing. We booked an excursion through the hotel’s tour agency, and it was an excellent trip with amazing guides. Highly recommend this hotel! Nothing

The hotel and the staff were nice. The room was clean. The breakfast was very good. The beach was ok. Very touristic. That island was terrible. Lot of construction on the island. The noise is non stop. The island is a construction site. It will be like that for another 3 years I guess. I had a horrible construction site view from my balcony. No vibe on the island. No athmosphere. Soooo boring and sooo désappointed . I stayed one night and it was enough.

The island is nice, but the property not good, room furniture is very old and broken, we stay here only 2 days and cancelled our reservation and change the hotel, not recommended. We don’t like anything very bad.

We requested a special romantic dinner by the beach and they set it up for us with great foods, really amazing! Work going on near by so little noise
